probably because I can't follow your simple instructions
To anyone else looking to install it:
  1. Gotta build the plugin from the latest on the repo
  2. Have to change (pre-existing?) projects to include the GUID stuff from the README.md file above

Hi everyone, I've been lurking this repo for a while and it's really awesome! Good job and thank you. If any of you has a server, don't forget to send me the address :smile: . Bye.

@ikkentim do i have to update .csproj file only for startup project?
Tim Potze
@ikkentim
Oct 13 2016 09:52
yup!
SomeDevil
@SomeDevil
Oct 13 2016 09:53
updated extension and nuget package
cleaned solution
built it
and still getting The program 'PL.dll' has exited with code 0 (0x0).
server is starting up but without debugging
Tim Potze
@ikkentim
Oct 13 2016 09:55
:| I don't get it
I'll add it to the issues list
PL is your game mode?
SomeDevil
@SomeDevil
Oct 13 2016 09:56
yes
well
Tim Potze
@ikkentim
Oct 13 2016 09:57
In the server log, does it say Soft Debugger, with some stuff under it?
right after filterscript loading
SomeDevil
@SomeDevil
Oct 13 2016 09:58
no
Tim Potze
@ikkentim
Oct 13 2016 09:59
Are you sure you are using the latest plugin from the master branch( you got to build it yourself, it's not in a release yet!)
SomeDevil
@SomeDevil
Oct 13 2016 09:59
ohh
i thought it's in package already
sorry I'm dumb
Tim Potze
@ikkentim

@SomeDevil
Oct 13 2016 10:06
yaay
it's working
Xalphox
@Xalphox
Oct 13 2016 13:19
Should this work with the debugger Tim - ie. breakpoints, inspecting, stepping through, and exceptions? Or does it just exclusively output samp-server.exe to the VS output panel at the moment?
Tim Potze
@ikkentim
Oct 13 2016 13:20
Breakpoints, inspecting, locals and all work, it just doesn't catch exceptions yet, those still go straight to the server output
Xalphox
@Xalphox
Oct 13 2016 13:20
odd - it doesn't seem to be working for me
or it wasn't last night; let me recheck now
DEBUGGER ERROR: Mono.Debugging.Soft.DisconnectedException: The connection with the debugger has been lost. The target application may have exited. ---> System.IO.FileNotFoundException: Could not load file or assembly 'Mono.Posix, Version=2.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=0738eb9f132ed756' or one of its dependencies. If I add any breakpoints

        protected override void OnInitialized(EventArgs e)
        {
            Initialize(StartupContext.Live);
            base.OnInitialized(e);

            Console.WriteLine("1");
            Console.WriteLine("2");
            Console.WriteLine("3");
            Console.WriteLine("4");
            throw new Exception("Hello Tim!");
        }
Breakpoint is on "2"

Oct 13 2016 13:23
Hmm maybe I should try uninstalling mono and testing again.. Atm working
Xalphox
@Xalphox
Oct 13 2016 13:23
fair - np
.NET: 4.5.2

Oct 13 2016 13:32
Framework stability is stellar for the rest Tim
Been working really well thus far
Made a lot of progress on my gamemode the past week
Hope to get a small beta online this weekend/next week
Xalphox
@Xalphox
Oct 13 2016 13:34
S# is the best :)
Florian van Dillen
@fvandillen
Oct 13 2016 13:34
Yeah, I like the Lists/Collections the best
Xalphox
@Xalphox
Oct 13 2016 13:34
Pretty sure I'm probably pissing people off on the SA-MP forums with all my lobbying
Florian van Dillen
@fvandillen
Oct 13 2016 13:35
Imagine having to write pawn arrays/enums and not having fluent nhibernate
Xalphox
@Xalphox
Oct 13 2016 13:35
Collections are fucking beautiful in comparison to Pawn
but the thing I like most are the tasks/async
Florian van Dillen
@fvandillen
Oct 13 2016 13:35
Yeah, especially with linq methods
Yeah, they're great
Running my world clock with the native timers too
Xalphox
@Xalphox
Oct 13 2016 13:35
if you want 1000 players then you ought to have something that can parallelize
Florian van Dillen
@fvandillen
Oct 13 2016 13:36
What helps speed up my development the most is not having to write SQL queries
Linq is fucking beautiful
Xalphox
@Xalphox
Oct 13 2016 13:36
agreed
I wrote my ORM as I couldn't get on with nhibernate and it was before EF
still a damn sight better than Pawn
Florian van Dillen
@fvandillen
Oct 13 2016 13:36
Look at this shit, it's so nice:
Xalphox
@Xalphox
Oct 13 2016 13:37
btw - to whoever asked for my interface/GUI code, it's here: https://cl.ly/3E1o3f1v2f24/Interface.rar
sorry, not particularly well documented or anything
and yeah LINQ ftw
Florian van Dillen
@fvandillen
Oct 13 2016 13:37
yeah linq is a blessing, especially for my group system
In general working with data is just that much easier
Allows us to focus on the actual development of the script and not with getting the damn pawn language to do what we want
@Xalphox Do you have any screenshots/examples of what that library does?
Florian van Dillen
@fvandillen
Oct 13 2016 13:43
If it does what I think it does, it's amazing stuff :)
Tim Potze
@ikkentim
Oct 13 2016 15:04
I've no idea where it pull Mono.Posix from on my system, I'll just add it as a reference in the next patch of the debugger
SomeDevil
@SomeDevil
Oct 13 2016 15:39
my server is crashing randomly without any errors, any ideas how to debug this? :D
Tim Potze
@ikkentim
Oct 13 2016 15:39
:O
nothing in server_log i take?
SomeDevil
@SomeDevil
Oct 13 2016 15:40
crashed 30 seconds ago, but last message in log was 10 minutes ago
Tim Potze
@ikkentim
Oct 13 2016 15:41
Can you kind of reproduce it? Or is it so random, that when you wait for it it never happens
SomeDevil
@SomeDevil
Oct 13 2016 15:41
and nothing in SampSharp_errors.log
Tim Potze
@ikkentim
Oct 13 2016 15:44
long shot: a crashinfo file maybe?
SomeDevil
@SomeDevil
Oct 13 2016 15:45
no :(
Tim Potze
@ikkentim
Oct 13 2016 15:46
Can you kind of reproduce it? Or is it so random, that when you wait for it it never happens
? :s
SomeDevil
@SomeDevil
Oct 13 2016 15:50
this time i was afk, previously it happened when i drove a car. i also reported few days ago this one * Assertion: should not be reached at ..\mono\metadata\threadpool-ms.c:227
but i'm not sure if these crashes are connected
Tim Potze
@ikkentim
Oct 13 2016 15:52
what mono version are you using?
SomeDevil
@SomeDevil
Oct 13 2016 15:52
latest
SomeDevil
@SomeDevil
Oct 13 2016 15:53
huh
from here
Tim Potze
@ikkentim
Oct 13 2016 15:53
s# isn't using your installation
SomeDevil
@SomeDevil
Oct 13 2016 15:53
i copied
Tim Potze
@ikkentim
Oct 13 2016 15:53
it using the stuff in the mono folder in your server directory
ah okay
if you set loglevel=debug in your server.cfg it should print the version on startup
just fyi
but hmm
SomeDevil
@SomeDevil
Oct 13 2016 15:54
huh, my friend reproduced this crash. seems like it's our fault, but i'm not 100% sure
lack of exceptions in log bothers me
Tim Potze
@ikkentim
Oct 13 2016 15:55
yea :(
I think fvandillen had a crash a few days ago, that was caused by a null string being passed to a native function. Generally I check for null values before calling a native but i forgot to in setnumberplate
just for clarity, could you check your mono version so i can find what assertion is on that line of that error you had a little while ago?
I feel ike I've been here before though, maybe @fvandillen can remember: https://github.com/mono/mono/blob/mono-4.5.0-branch/mono/metadata/threadpool-ms.c#L235 assertion is something about random numbers... g2g dinner's ready
SomeDevil
@SomeDevil
Oct 13 2016 15:58
4.6.1
Florian van Dillen
@fvandillen
Oct 13 2016 16:11
Yes, I've been there before. It had to do with a System.Timer running for a long time (powering my world clock).
Tim Potze
@ikkentim
Oct 13 2016 16:12
Yeayea That was it
Which timer are you using somedevil?
Florian van Dillen
@fvandillen
Oct 13 2016 16:12
After a day or two, it crashed. I think it somehow exhausts the available threads or something, to a point where mono can't generate a new thread ID because all ones have been used and not disposed (just a theory).
@Xalphox Do you use anything specific to design your interfaces? Looks slick as fuck
Currently refactoring the files to incorporate your GUI library into my gamemode
Xalphox
@Xalphox
Oct 13 2016 16:17
I usually draw it in Paint or Powerpoint then try to amend it ingame
Florian van Dillen
@fvandillen
Oct 13 2016 16:17
Like measure the pixels or?
Xalphox
@Xalphox
Oct 13 2016 16:17
TBH I really want to design a Visual Studios designer for it, like actual Winforms, but I'd have no idea where to start
Yeah
Florian van Dillen
@fvandillen
Oct 13 2016 16:18
Where did you define Vector2X btw?
Xalphox
@Xalphox
Oct 13 2016 16:18
oh - sorry
Florian van Dillen
@fvandillen
Oct 13 2016 16:18
Not done refactoring yet, so might still need to adjust its namespace
Florian van Dillen
@fvandillen
Oct 13 2016 16:19
Thx :)
Florian van Dillen
@fvandillen
Oct 13 2016 16:28
Oh, and you are declaring a partial player class.
How does that work? Should I make my own player class partial too?
Xalphox
@Xalphox
Oct 13 2016 16:29
That will work
Florian van Dillen
@fvandillen
Oct 13 2016 16:29
Thx ( I am quite proficient with programming in general, however some of this is specific to C# which I am not a 100% fluent in)
Xalphox
@Xalphox
Oct 13 2016 16:29
np neither am I
Florian van Dillen
@fvandillen
Oct 13 2016 16:29
I'm getting there though :D
Xalphox
@Xalphox
Oct 13 2016 16:29
I'm technically more a Java guy as much as I hate to say it
well, Apex - Salesforce's bastardized Java
Florian van Dillen
@fvandillen
Oct 13 2016 16:30
Oh you know Salesforce?
They raped java with Apex yeah :D
Xalphox
@Xalphox
Oct 13 2016 16:30
I'm a Salesforce Consultant
I sure as hell hope so!
Florian van Dillen
@fvandillen
Oct 13 2016 16:30
It's a true money maker to know Salesforce
I also do consulting about CRM
Xalphox
@Xalphox
Oct 13 2016 16:30
Salesforce or?
Florian van Dillen
@fvandillen
Oct 13 2016 16:30
Mostly, yeah
Xalphox
@Xalphox
Oct 13 2016 16:30
ah? any company I would know?
I'm with Cognizant at the moment
Florian van Dillen
@fvandillen
Oct 13 2016 16:31
I know the most about SF, but also Zoho
Nah, i'm still a student but I get hired by companies to help them implement CRM
Xalphox
@Xalphox
Oct 13 2016 16:31
That's fair
Florian van Dillen
@fvandillen
Oct 13 2016 16:31
I help them with design choices, implementation, external service integration, etc
Xalphox
@Xalphox
Oct 13 2016 16:31
Cognizant have a European office and they do pretty good grad schemes
Florian van Dillen
@fvandillen
Oct 13 2016 16:31
Oh nice :)
Xalphox
@Xalphox
Oct 13 2016 16:31
ie. they send you away to Spain for a week
Florian van Dillen
@fvandillen
Oct 13 2016 16:32
My experience is that knowing SF is a true money cow
Xalphox
@Xalphox
Oct 13 2016 16:32
boy is it
Florian van Dillen
@fvandillen
Oct 13 2016 16:32
It's a niche that not too many people know about
Once you know your way around SF, your skills are in demand
Xalphox
@Xalphox
Oct 13 2016 16:32
Also most developers hate Apex because of its limitations and bulkification
Florian van Dillen
@fvandillen
Oct 13 2016 16:32
Lol ye
Xalphox
@Xalphox
Oct 13 2016 16:32
which has kept it competitive
SomeDevil
@SomeDevil
Oct 13 2016 16:33
huh, yea, I'm also using system.timers to update server time
Xalphox
@Xalphox
Oct 13 2016 16:33
Pardot's a pretty niche area to get into too Florian
SomeDevil
@SomeDevil
Oct 13 2016 16:33
but this crash was 5 or 10 minutes after server start
Florian van Dillen
@fvandillen
Oct 13 2016 16:34
Ran into this before unfortunately @SomeDevil
Xalphox
@Xalphox
Oct 13 2016 16:34
Like £600/day contracts
Florian van Dillen
@fvandillen
Oct 13 2016 16:34
Oh nice
I like how SF has built this entire ecosystem of stuff, not just a CRM
SomeDevil
@SomeDevil
Oct 13 2016 16:34
how frequently are you updating your timer? @fvandillen
Florian van Dillen
@fvandillen
Oct 13 2016 16:35
Mine ran once every second
Was a world clock
Xalphox
@Xalphox
Oct 13 2016 16:35
yeah, it's a pretty sweet platform
SomeDevil
@SomeDevil
Oct 13 2016 16:35
huh. mine every 100ms
Michael Kilpatrick
@NewbProgramming
Oct 13 2016 16:35
Hey ya'll active :) how do you turn off chat notifications though, interrupting my coding :/
Xalphox
@Xalphox
Oct 13 2016 16:35
shame salesforce spends more on their marketing than their development
@NewbProgramming Top right there is a "Notifications" button under the settings dropdown I think
Michael Kilpatrick
@NewbProgramming
Oct 13 2016 16:36
Thanks, happy coding guys :)
Xalphox
@Xalphox
Oct 13 2016 16:36
and you sir
Florian van Dillen
@fvandillen
Oct 13 2016 16:36
Haha same to you sir
Hmm, about the login form
Xalphox
@Xalphox
Oct 13 2016 16:40
I threw it in as an example
it's not required :)
Florian van Dillen
@fvandillen
Oct 13 2016 16:40
Well I am trying to test it
Xalphox
@Xalphox
Oct 13 2016 16:40
Oh
Florian van Dillen
@fvandillen
Oct 13 2016 16:40
And it expects some different parameters
Xalphox
@Xalphox
Oct 13 2016 16:40
hm?
Florian van Dillen
@fvandillen
Oct 13 2016 16:40
Owner.SelectTextDraw(); Is asking me to input a Color
Xalphox
@Xalphox
Oct 13 2016 16:41
Ooooh
Oops yeah I overrode it in my code
as there's a default hover colour
Florian van Dillen
@fvandillen
Oct 13 2016 16:41
Owner.SetCameraLookAt = new Vector3X(-213.0051, 1189.9420, 18.5759); <- This I assume must be a cast?
Xalphox
@Xalphox
Oct 13 2016 16:41
Vector3X has an implicit casting operator into Vector3
in fact
Florian van Dillen
@fvandillen
Oct 13 2016 16:42
So I shouldn't need to touch it?
Xalphox
@Xalphox
Oct 13 2016 16:42
how does that even work
maybe C# is smart and lets you do that with one parameter
yeah you shouldn't need t
o
If it doesn't work, change it to SetCameraLookAt() instead of =
Florian van Dillen
@fvandillen
Oct 13 2016 17:00
What's your logic with the owner.Name = $"[MG_User_{(owner.Id + 1).ToString("000")}]";?
Xalphox
@Xalphox
Oct 13 2016 17:00
It changes the user's name to
If you were user ID 0
Florian van Dillen
@fvandillen
Oct 13 2016 17:00
Yes, but why?:P
Xalphox
@Xalphox
Oct 13 2016 17:00
[MG_User_001]
It's a roleplay server - so once people log in to their account and select a character, their name is changed to that character, ie. Howard Fuller
however if some asshole decided he wanted to fuck with them, he could join the server and idle in the login screen with that guy's name
Florian van Dillen
@fvandillen
Oct 13 2016 17:01
Ohh, you use a character system
Xalphox
@Xalphox
Oct 13 2016 17:01
ye
Tim Potze
@ikkentim
Oct 13 2016 17:01
wtf is this rubbish, if i press next or previous song, it goes to the next or previous unread chat in gitter
Florian van Dillen
@fvandillen
Oct 13 2016 17:01
The roleplay server i'm working for uses the username simple and plain
Xalphox
@Xalphox
Oct 13 2016 17:02
clearly spotify wants you to work on samp# Tim :D
SomeDevil
@SomeDevil
Oct 13 2016 17:02
@Xalphox lol we have same system in our gamemode
Tim Potze
@ikkentim
Oct 13 2016 17:02

TBH I really want to design a Visual Studios designer for it, like actual Winforms, but I'd have no idea where to start

I so badly want this too, lol, might take a look into it

Xalphox
@Xalphox
Oct 13 2016 17:03
If you find a way to do it Tim I'll buy you a beer
Tim Potze
@ikkentim
Oct 13 2016 17:03
I think I can turn your library into a nuget package :+1: can also provide tools in there, will take a look at it
Xalphox
@Xalphox
Oct 13 2016 17:03
I should write a thread to describe all the textdraw idiosyncracies
I wrote one describing how letter widths work a few days ago, but there are a couple of others
Tim Potze
@ikkentim
Oct 13 2016 17:04
Might refactor it slightly for clarity/make it look slightly like winforms
Xalphox
@Xalphox
Oct 13 2016 17:04
That's totally fair
Florian van Dillen
@fvandillen
Oct 13 2016 17:04
Ah sweet :)
Tim Potze
@ikkentim
Oct 13 2016 17:04
i once made a winforms like system for logitech g15/g510 keyboards :P
Xalphox
@Xalphox
Oct 13 2016 17:04
:D
Tim Potze
@ikkentim
Oct 13 2016 17:04
github.com/ikkentim/logiframe :P but don't have that keyboard anymore
Xalphox
@Xalphox
Oct 13 2016 17:05
I'm planning on re-doing the UI for my GM at any rate
FYI @ikkentim - if you do the designer thing, this is how the individual character widths are calculated: http://forum.sa-mp.com/showthread.php?t=618883
Tim Potze
@ikkentim
Oct 13 2016 17:16
Omfg. Stored that in my bookmarks
I updated the vs plugin, you got to uninstall the old one before reinstalling, because i changed the name to "SampSharp Plugin"
Florian van Dillen
@fvandillen
Oct 13 2016 17:17
The plugin for debugging?
Tim Potze
@ikkentim
Oct 13 2016 17:17
yes
Florian van Dillen
@fvandillen
Oct 13 2016 17:17
Where can I get it?:P
Tim Potze
@ikkentim
Oct 13 2016 17:18
Tools > Extensions and Updates... > Visual Studio Gallery
you'll also need the latest sampsharp plugin from the master branch (not yet released)
Florian van Dillen
@fvandillen
Oct 13 2016 17:18
Aight
Will wait for a NuGet release in that case
(Stability of my gamemode has the priority)
SomeDevil
@SomeDevil
Oct 13 2016 17:20
well, since my server is in alpha - yolo
gonna update
:D
Tim Potze
@ikkentim
Oct 13 2016 17:20
latest plugin only has debugger changes
99% sure I broke nothing
Florian van Dillen
@fvandillen
Oct 13 2016 17:20
Yeah, i'll wait
Tim Potze
@ikkentim
Oct 13 2016 17:20
:P
Tim Potze
@ikkentim
Oct 13 2016 17:39
afk
SomeDevil
@SomeDevil
Oct 13 2016 18:01
@ikkentim exceptions still not working in debugger?
SomeDevil
@SomeDevil
Oct 13 2016 18:08
yay. can confirm. * Assertion: should not be reached at ..\mono\metadata\threadpool-ms.c:227 is causing crash
but i can't understand why
Florian van Dillen
@fvandillen
Oct 13 2016 18:08
I suspect it is an issue in Mono or in the framework
SomeDevil
@SomeDevil
Oct 13 2016 18:09
you had this bug with system.timer, right? @fvandillen
Florian van Dillen
@fvandillen
Oct 13 2016 18:09
Yes, correct
SomeDevil
@SomeDevil
Oct 13 2016 18:10
looks like not in my case :( my server was up for 5, max 10 minutes\
Tim Potze
@ikkentim
Oct 13 2016 18:10
i think it’s about the number of ticks, so for faster timer > faster crash
are you using System.Timer, on purpose or by accident?
Florian van Dillen
@fvandillen
Oct 13 2016 18:11
Just preferred the native C# classes
SomeDevil
@SomeDevil
Oct 13 2016 18:11
yep, me 2
iirc samp ones weren't correct
Tim Potze
@ikkentim
Oct 13 2016 18:12
this one uses the sampgdk timer, so it’s pretty good afaik
SomeDevil
@SomeDevil
Oct 13 2016 18:13
gonna test it then
cause this crash is too annoying

Yeah, I will also need to test
Since the gamemode depends on a reliable timer

i wasn't getting this crash before
but was using timer all the time

I also didn't have this issue under previous versions
So either mono, or S#

@ikkentim - if you are looking at expanding horizons with S# (with stuff like GUI), it might be worth looking at ColAndreas and implementing that as a SAMP# plugin
it's beyond me as a mere Salesforce programmer, but from what I can gather all he's done is implement a preexisting library (bulletphysics.org)
Allows for things like tracelines and bla bla bla - the sort of heavy processing stuff that you really want to be doing asynchronously

Also I dunno about anyone else but while breakpoints now do work, I can't actually do anything when they are running - ie. hovering over variables in VS doesn't show anything
Immediate window doesn't work
aha - locals do work though, which are the important part
