@wearhere
Bug reports and PRs are very much welcome for the above.

Hello All, I am using Xcode Version 5.1.1 (5B1008) - I am trying to run tests in the iphone simulator 7.1 but I am getting the following error
My project builds from the command-line (but not from the IDE) and I am able to run my tests if I use -sim_version 6.1
./subliminal-test -project Flipagram.xcodeproj -sim_device "iPhone" -sdk "/Applications/Xcode.app/Contents/Developer/Platforms/iPhoneSimulator.platform/Developer/SDKs/iPhoneSimulator7.1.sdk"; -output "/Users/admin/workspace/flipagram-ios" -sim_version 6.1 <----- thats the command I am running
Jeffrey Wear
@wearhere
HI @rgonzo
If I understand you correctly, the command above does work if you pass -sim_version 6.1, but not if you pass -sim_version 7.1?
rgonzo
@rgonzo
the command above does work only if you pass -sim_version 6.1, but not if you pass -sim_version 7.1 or if you do not add -sim_version param

And what happens if you try to launch Instruments from Xcode? The same error?

@MaxGabriel
Subliminal on iOS 8 is working great for me btw
just as a data point
Jeffrey Wear
@wearhere
Xcode and Instruments do seem more stable on iOS 8, though I wouldn't recommend using our experimental branch yet :)

There a number of unresolved issues (see inkling/Subliminal#259) and also log output is cut off in Instruments like so :(
I need to file a Radar for that still... hopefully Apple's noticed it (surely they've noticed it).
Anyway @rgonzo, I'm almost certain this is a temporary issue with Xcode and Instruments, not under Subliminal's control. Can you try the steps under "Tests occasionally fail to launch" here?
rgonzo
@rgonzo
ok I will read over the steps in the link. When I try to compile the project in Xcode, I get a compilation error.
Jeffrey Wear
@wearhere
What's the error?

Did you install Subliminal manually, or using Cocoapods?
rgonzo
@rgonzo
I have tried adding the Subliminal folder path to my framework search paths and header search paths but I could never get it to compile in the app. I installed Subliminal manually
by the way I have removed those path additions that I tried experimenting with
Jeffrey Wear
@wearhere
What additions?
rgonzo
@rgonzo
I added and deleted a value I inserted into the framework search path of my project
same for my header search path
Jeffrey Wear
@wearhere
Oh
rgonzo
@rgonzo
I just realized today that I could compile the app using the command-line tool
Jeffrey Wear
@wearhere
subliminal-test? Yeah. I'm surprised that there's a difference between that and Xcode though--underneath, subliminal-test just uses xcodebuild.
rgonzo
@rgonzo
yes subliminal-test works but the ide does not...I am baffled myself.
Jeffrey Wear
@wearhere
Can you share a picture of your build settings for your Integration Tests target showing the Header Search Paths row?
rgonzo
@rgonzo
sure
Jeffrey Wear
@wearhere
Btw as a general advisory--if anyone would like to share information about their project privately, they are welcome to do so: just hover over my picture and click "Chat Privately".

Hi there, I was wondering if updates are planned soon for the experimental iOS 8 branch?

^^ :thumbsup: Im new on iOS so unfortunately I dont think I can help with a PR but would love to hear the experiences of others in here getting Subliminal working
Anybody have a public repo with an example of the project running iOS8 & with xCode6 ?
Joe Masilotti
@joemasilotti
Hey all,
Joe Masilotti
@joemasilotti
We are exploring Subliminal as a feature testing framework for a new project and had a few basic questions:
  1. Is it possible to view a more detailed stack trace when an exception is raised? Only seeing the last "recorded file" gets confusing when Subliminal implementation makes assertions but is inconsistent with the UIAElement macro (eg. SLTextField -setText:withKeyboard:).
  2. Is it possible to tap and/or set the text on UISearchBar or its child UITextField? No matter which way we query it an exception is raised indicating it "is not tappable". Please note that we are using iOS 8.
Joe Masilotti
@joemasilotti
After doing more research it turns trying to call -setText: on any UITextField or UITextView inside of a UITableView raises the same exception.

Hi @wearhere . Is there an update on how to solve @rgonzo 's issue? I have encountered the same error with Xcode 5.1.1
YeTing-surfeasy
@YeTing-surfeasy
I installed Subliminal via git submodule

@channel anyone had an success with running Subliminal recently, Im still having issues running with the sample code from the repo :(
Justin Martin
@justinseanmartin
Are you running on Xcode6? If so, you'll need the WIP branch shared/xcode6
Shane Rogers
@phoenixbox
I am, I was having a bit of trouble about a month ago but I will give that a try
Cheers Justin :thumbsup:
Joe Masilotti
@joemasilotti
What more needs to be done before the Xcode6 branch is merged in to master?
Justin Martin
@justinseanmartin
There are some tests that are failing, I believe it is all tracked here: inkling/Subliminal#259
