looks interesting...some overlapping ideas
seems like they are more opinionated
like using foundation.
I dont know if you could use bootstrap if you wanted.
We both have sass @import support

Yes indeed. @hughker is a Fan-dation-boy but I prefer agnosticism.

looks like its a great way to start out with nothing and have a theme.
I dont see anything about having multiple targets, or supporting multiple stores.
I think they fill different roles..
quickshot is more of a transfer tool, ziplines looks more bootstrapping.

Yes, seems to be more of a "quick start" tool.

I think more devs are seeing the benefit of javascript command line tools...
it's proof that the Shopify Community is crying out for better tools
WOW! that gives me and idea...

to test a shopify template, you need a Shopify platform

I think the technical debt was too high....
I think there are 2 factors preventing this...
  • Maintaining two platforms is incredibly hard, and bugs/differences will happen. (works in vision, breaks in Shopify)
  • Internet is only becoming more prolific, reducing the need for it entirely

I typed a two...what gives....i think
weird, when I went to edit it, it was a 2

I want to be running my thing from a yacht in the middle of the South Pacific. I can definitely get global internet dongle but save and refresh would be pretty tiresome

What if quickshot had a small library of base themes...
like a bootstrap one
and a foundation one...
Rick Davies
@rickydazla
May 21 2015 19:51
I would use Timber and call it a day
Bryan Morris
@internalfx
May 21 2015 19:51
and you could check them out on quickshot.io
yeah, but what does timber use...its not bootstrap.

Bryan Morris

I think you could support timber too..
im not excluding it by any means

Would be nice to be able to specify a repo as "your base theme" whatever that might be...
Bryan Morris
@internalfx
May 21 2015 19:54
but I think it would be cool to offer a few different skeletons
oh thats cool...
Rick Davies
@rickydazla
May 21 2015 19:54
There are many skeletons
Bryan Morris
@internalfx
May 21 2015 19:54
pull a theme from github...
then you could have a few "stock" ones...
but..also allow a user to pull their own repo, or any other they find...
VERY COOL
what designer wouldnt like that
Rick Davies
@rickydazla
May 21 2015 19:56
Right on. Keeping it totally agnostic would be my suggestion. Base themes come and go...
