@ewindisch
Thanks. Yeah, I submitted a talk, but it wasn't accepted... but it's awesome that Nirmal seems to have delivered the talk I wanted to give (I haven't seen it yet, I'm told it was recorded)
the European Dockercon this year and next year's US-Dockercon will definitely see more serverless, but it will be interesting to see in what form. They tightly control the schedule and they want to make it very much about themselves.
Mandeep Bal
@mandeepbal
Yeah, that they do. Not sure if they're feeling threatened at this point.
Eric Windisch
@ewindisch
Honestly, I suspect so. Scott Johnson told me they're very carefully watching the space.

The second half of dockercon felt like a big sales pitch for Docker data center.
Eric Windisch
@ewindisch
They do themes per day. One day is community, then enterprise / sales.
at least that's what they did last year. I didn't attend this time.

@mandeepbal
oh okay, it was my first one so i didn't realize that was a thing. I thought it was just that datacenter got so big and they really wanted to push it.
but yeah, that makes sense

Hey check out IOpipe on the front page of HN https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=12001691

Hey guys, I found iopipe from HN. I just wanted to say it looks like an awesome project. I'm excited to spend some time trying it out. What you guys are doing is much needed in the serverless space right now.

Hey
Welcome!

@dustingetz
hey guys cool project
I thought aws lambda can't do async or state, i thought you just had to compute something and return a value, am i confused?
let inc = (e,c)=>resovledPromise(e.count+1)
iopipe.define(inc, inc, inc)
is this possible to express?
with async types
Eric Windisch
@ewindisch
@dustingetz we don't support that yet, but it'd a great feature request.
iopipe/iopipe#82

@ewindisch
@dustingetz I've started work on a branch with promise support. Basically it comes down to this: https://github.com/ewindisch/iopipe/blob/i_promise_you/js/iopipe.js#L213
Eric Windisch
@ewindisch
fyi, the functional programming library has been moved to iopipe/turtle.
