Has the IPython mailing list been quiet, is something wrong with my setup, or are the mailing lists down?

someone mentioned that the server hosting it is down
that happens not infrequently
I will ping someone at Enthought to see if we can get it back

I really would like a chance to sit down with the right people at Enthought
to help that effort out
Hey @takluyver custom.js gets served off the static path right?

I'm asking because of static assets being loaded out of nginx
All signs point to yes
and will be requested no matter what
which means I need to distribute it to nginx nodes

@rossant in Python on_msg still exists. In Javascript it's a backbone event, "msg:custom". i.e. model.on('msg:custom', callback, context);

@rgbkrk yes, as far as I'm aware, it is served from static

@rgbkrk if you have the IPython static tree, it includes custom.js

This is probably not the right place to ask, but has anyone had any luck simulating keydown events programmatically in Javascript such that Backbone picks it up?

@takluyver can you check #6911?

I don’t know what/where to modify the code in order to test the use of pandoc(markdow to context) and then use the output file with context (in place opdflatex). @minrk should i continue on the “context” route .. to enable rendering in pdf of url images ? i started to change few files here https://github.com/epifanio/ipython/compare/ipython:master...master but not sure if i’m on the right track and if yes .. what’s next

It's unlikely that you will need to modify any files in IPython
you can add custom templates, custom filters, preprocessors, etc.

is there a way (example) to write a template that will : read a markdown cell and convert it to context instead of latex ?
essentially this is what is needed, read the markdown cell and use pandoc to convert it to context, that’s why i was adding ‘markdown2context'
the use of cell type : RawNBConvert can’t be an option because then the rendering via html/nbviewer etc is no more coherent with the pdf

I wonder if there's a neat way to allow custom filters in addition to custom templates

we do
I don't know how neat it is, but you can register new filters in config
no clue on how to use it . but i can try to understand
