do you also want to rebuild the website again? I guess you did it last, and if I do it, there will be a bunch of minor changes from trivial differences.
nevermind, I may as well do it.

so, out of curiosity, is 2.x now in end of life more or less?
or do you guys foresee supporting 2.4.x for a while longer?
Thomas Kluyver
@takluyver
Feb 28 2015 01:53
If there are problems with reading nbformat 4, we may have to do another 2.x release.
but other than that, or something like a serious security bug, I think 2.x development is now finished. We'll do a 3.1 bugfix release in a month or so.

No différence until we merge a 4.x PR. Preferably 3.x

Is there a way to override the help string for a traitlet?
e.g., the ipython_dir help string says that the default is ~/.ipython, but we override it in nbgrader to be ~/.nbgrader, so it would be nice to say that.
Or is the solution basically to just redefine ipython_dir?
Min RK
@minrk
Feb 28 2015 20:56
you can define a new trait on the subclass
I think everything else should behave the same, but you can override the attributes set in the constructor

Moments before the release announcement on Twitter, I installed IPython 3 when testing a PR from Jon on bitjet
"Huh, must be released"
Then my phone got hit by the deluge from the announcement
Good fun. Congrats everyone!
I'm currently deploying a bigger server for try.jupyter.org's use
Min RK
@minrk
Feb 28 2015 23:11
@rgbkrk I'm seeing that try.jupyter.org doesn't work due to prohibited access to localStorage
I opened #7908 to fix our error handling to allow startup if that fails, but it's weird that it fails
it only fails in the frame on try.jupyter, it's fine on tmpnb directly

It is kind of annoying the output_suffix in nbconvert isn’t configurable
Is there a reason it’s not configurable?
Min RK
@minrk
Feb 28 2015 23:27
probably should be configurable. For single-notebooks, --output overrides it, but I don't think you can use that when converting multiple notebooks
Jessica B. Hamrick
@jhamrick
Feb 28 2015 23:27
Yeah
I can understand why it’s not the default (because you risk overwriting your existing notebooks), but especially for things where e.g. you’re exporting to a different directory, it doesn’t always make snese
Min RK
@minrk
Feb 28 2015 23:28
right

might be a browser thing, I've only tested with Chrome 41. I'll try others.
