is there a manager, hook point, what-have-you to add handlers to the notebook tornado app instance? I'm wondering if I can extend the notebook server API cleanly for custom JS to invoke on views without a kernel (dashboard, edit).

I'm curious if there is a standard way to create an IPython based slide deck that can be run without being connected to the internet. There is the reveal-prefix flag in nbconvert, but there is no flag for local mathjax, or local fonts that seem to be loaded from CDNs.

@parente you can do this with NotebookApp.notebook_server_extensions, which lets you register new tornado handlers.

@moorepants you are right, there is no flags for local mathjax or fonts (burried inside reveal.js itself), we need to provide that in the future, I think...

So, I could hack the resulting html file to point to the local sources?

@minrk : tnx for the pointer, as always. for posterity: NotebookApp.server_extensions (https://github.com/jupyter/notebook/blob/master/notebook/notebookapp.py#L747)

@moorepants you can probably hack the html to load the local mathjax, but for the fonts themselves, you probably need to hack on the reveal.js codebase... which is no fun...

If anyone wants to take a crack at polishing that markdown a bit, be my guest... it was a fairly quick pandoc conversion.
