I'm developing a ipython notebook volume rendering nbextension (lets call it volr), for this to work I need have some javascript loaded. So I put it in (osx) ~/Library/Jupyter/volr/ and have ~/.jupyter/nbconfig/notebook.json load 'volr'. This however requires some action on the user side. Is it possible to get it all working simply by importing a module, say 'import volr' ?
One solution would be for this module to symlink ~/Library/Jupter/volr to whereever the js is store, but that doesn't solve the notebook.json change

@minrk, is there any hook to modify the ? operator?
It is calling pinfo obj under the hood... but I could not find any simple way to hack it... Do I have to override pinfo with my own implementation?

@damianavila yes, ? is a shortcut for calling %pinfo, so changing what pinfo does is the same as changing what ? does.
Registering a new magic with the same name should override the existing one.

Hi, I wanted to know if there's a plan to support the ipdb fully(history, autocomplete) in the different frontends(qtconsole, notebook). This is a huge drawback to a lot of users, and is very frustrating that it's still a problem.I would love to help, so if you want to point me to a solution, id be happy to have a go at it.

@martinbreddels - that sounds cool
there are several mechanisms to automatically load and execute javascript code
but they require some user intervention.
I suppose you could display some javascript that would load your library.
but really, I think by design, I would want to have some user step for executing javascript code

@jasongrout I'm actually thinking of using display_javascript etc, the advantage would be that it would work on nbviewer

i'm having issues with ipyparallel -- when making a map_async call from a loadbalancedview instance, a continuous stream of ssh logins occur, (one for every engine, every second). Is this expected behavior? Any ideas to reduce the number of logins?
