Have you ever considered forcing the ordering of cells? Changing and re-executing a previous cell would use the state at that point, without the side-effects from the cells after it?

like sometimes I run some cells with error and I would rather delete it so that it does not clutter. Can I do that?

@ethanluoyc: I don't think so. If presentation is important, you should probably be using the notebook

okay.. cuz it occurred to me previously I can have some shortcut to simple remove the cell.
Maybe it is some terminal shortcut that happens to do that at that time :/

I'm not aware of such functionality, but that doesn't mean it's not there

well I cannot remember the keyboard shortcut not can I find it anywhere. I guess i will just consider it gone
