@minrk Thank you for showing notebook.__version__ for versioning purposes. Did not know that one could import notebook behind the scene :smile:

Hi, I installed ipython on raspbian jessie. I am unable to run qtconsole. Says qt bindings missing. Could you tell me how to install pyqt5 or pyside in raspbian.

I did pip install pyside (Error compiling shiboken). I can't find out how to install pyqt.

@gitgit137 you are probably better off getting qt bindings with apt than pip.

Hello, the notebook I'm working on seems to stop rendering HTML at some point and just outputs <IPython.core.display.HTML object>. Are there any general recommendations to debug this? I'm using ipython 4.0.0 and ipython-notebook 4.0.4

Can you describe the circumstances in more detail? Does this behavior change in the middle of using one notebook?

Yep, once I create the notebook, HTML rendering works OK. Then at some point it just stops working. I can link you to the notebook if needed.

Does it change when you re-load the notebook, or is it during the course of a single session that one output works and then later in the same session displaying the same object appears differently?

No, reloading the kernel doesn't solve the issue. The interesting thing is that I can create a new notebook, copy/paste a cell (with a broken HTML rendering) from the old notebook to the new one and magically HTML renders OK.

I didn't mean reloading the kernel, I mean refreshing the browser page.
(sharing the notebook would be helpful)

Refreshing the browser page doesn't help as well. Link: https://gist.github.com/superbobry/51e6740d371286d1c49b. See In[40].

@superbobry it's doctest mode
doctest-mode disables rich output

Bah, thank you very much!

Since the reason for it is to allow IPython input/output to be copy/pasted into regular doctests, it turns off all the fancier display that would make doctests fail.

Yes, that makes sense. Thank you.

Hello! I'm a Python programmer and I'd love to contribute to IPython. If there are any beginner-level bugs, I will be happy to hack on them. Thanks in advance!
