I'm having trouble running some javascript from within my IPython wrapper kernel. I'm running display_javascript(js, raw=True) at the end of the __init__ method of my wrapper kernel, but the Javascript doesn't seem to be running in the browser when I start up a notebook. Am I missing something?

I've noticed it works when I call the function in my do_execute() method, which makes me think that I'm timing something wrong. Do I have to wait for a particular event before executing Javascript?

@msftristew : the notebook associates output with particular cells. Output that is sent while the kernel is starting up isn't associated with a cell, so it doesn't get displayed. If you want JS to run when your kernel is selected, I think you can put a kernel.js next to the kernel.json file. We don't seem to have documented that anywhere, though.

I'll try that, thanks.

I'm working on a feature that allows users to upload/download files from clients to remotely running notebooks.
To support this I need some programmatic way to determine the URI the server is using for the current notebook. What is the best way to get the URI?

Hi world. I installed Anaconda package and I want to run Ipython, whenever i click the Ipython icon. It gives me a command screen like cmd in windows? I was expecting to direct me to the Ipython notebook environment. Am I missing something?

if I run into a bug that's fixed in master but not in the 4.0.x branch, is that worth worrying about?
ipython_nbconvert doesn't exist
ngoldbaum @ngoldbaum is updating some old stuff

@ngoldbaum Since the bug is just in the error message, I wouldn't worry about it too much. We'll be working on shipping 4.1 pretty soon.

fair enough

But if you want to flag the fixing PR for back port, we can make sure it gets in the next 4.0.x if there is one.
(I'm on phone, so can't easily git-blame)
