@michaelsbradleyjr Can you include the error that you are getting? Are you using pip or conda?

@willingc thank you, but I just figured it out; metakernel uses pexpect, which was barfing on my multiline, fancy bash prompt, but the TIMEOUT error wasn’t giving me much to go on

hi, I'm wondering whether there has been some debate on creating a QML component for the qtconsole widget
I've had a stab at doing so, and while rendering the widget as a QML component is pretty straightfwd, it'll require some work to make it fully functional
here's gist of embedding the RichIPythonWidget in QML / pyqt5: https://gist.github.com/jf---/01045fba04250c8dd486

when using metakernel_bash, the output is getting truncated, sometimes; for example, when using npm commands (tried both w/ and w/o the —no-color option)

also, when a create a new text file, name it .js and/or manually set the lang to JavaScript, I can edit just fine; but if I save and then load it again, it doesn’t load in the editor, but just comes back as a raw file
when *I
I don’t get that behavior when creating .py and .jl files, for example; after saving and navigating away, if I open them again, they load into the editor

to whomever is awake, I'm thinking of releasing IPython 4.1 as we did not get bug reports since Friday.
Thoughts ?
