When the code I enter in the notebook requires input, a secondary prompt is displayed
for example if I do input() or stdin.read()
how do I send eof to that from the notebook?

@remram44 enter should cause input to return. I don't believe there's a mechanism for EOF, though.

@rmorshea open an issue on ipykernel? I've run your code on every combination of Python, IPython, and ipykernel I can think of, and can't seem to get it to hang.

It would be cool if there was a way to send eof, short of restarting the kernel nothing seems to work

I got some feedback from github debs “Sorry for the initial confusion! You're right, this is more of a rendering issue on our side. I just asked the team who worked on implementing iPython NBs on GitHub to take a look at this, and we'll get back once we have more information for you."
