The CORS proxy shouldn't be affected by the refspec config.
@sh0rtwave To be honest, I don't think implementing git -gc would be that hard. If there's not an issue yet for it to keep track of it I'd appreciate one.
    William Hilton
@Ktar5 Yup! It works in Electron. We use it in https://stoplight.io/studio In v1 of Studio we ran it in a Worker using the nodeIntegrationInWorkers setting, but killing workers with that setting enabled randomly crashes the app on macOS! So now we run it in a renderer thread but in a hidden background window.
@burbon git lfs isn't supported yet, and isn't on my immediate roadmap. LFS is a bit of a hack, and git is actually getting some native features that might make it obsolete soon! I plan to support those features as soon as GitHub supports them.
    William Hilton
@breadchris That's craziness. I have no idea how you're getting partially generated / corrupted typedefs.
    William Hilton
@BrianHung nope, that is unusual! What "fs" are you using? LightningFS? I wonder if it's a bug in my read function?
    William Hilton
@mojavelinux I'm so glad! I think the type-specific read functions were a big improvement over readObject. I expect the eventual v1 migration will go quite smoothly!
    William Hilton
@BrianHung Um... well no. Your best bet right now would be to copy those files and make your own merge function. Although having a "custom merge function" sounds really cool and I wonder now how hard it would be to squeeze that into the existing merge API. Maybe this is what we do instead of a mergetool plugin - just provide a callback argument that merges blobs....
    @wmhilton I'll make one
@wmhilton yeah I was using lightning-fs since it seemed like a good lightweight alternative to the other browser fs libraries mentioned in isomorphic-git; a callback for custom merge would be awesome since not all files are plaintext that can be merged with diff3

So general purpose question: If I said, I had a way of creating comments in your source code (any language), that only you would see (i.e. they aren't committed with your code, they are tracked & displayed only locally, unless you want to add that metadata to be shared), does that sound like it would be useful?
Said comments include everything up to, and including, 3D graphics. Optimus Prime, if you so desire. With .FBX animation. :D
where Optimus Prime is just a visualization output template. Makes life easy. You don't have to be a 3D modeller or know anything about 3D, it's just annotation & visualization of what's there.
I've had over 200,000 commits visualized on screen in 3D diff charts. Looks a lot better than bitbucket's "network" view.
3D just scales data views so much better.

git is actually getting some native features that might make it obsolete soon! I plan to support those features as soon as GitHub supports them.

    @wmhilton are you talking about https://git-scm.com/docs/partial-clone ?

    github itself said https://github.blog/2020-01-13-highlights-from-git-2-25/

Partial clones are still considered an experimental feature from Git’s point of view. For instance, many providers (such as GitHub) don’t support this feature yet, and it’s continually changing and evolving within Git from release to release.

So not sure how soon is soon. Do you know more about it?

    Johannes Schindelin
GitHub quietly enabled partial clones around GitMerge 2020 time.
    I.e. roughly two months ago.

@breadchris That's craziness. I have no idea how you're getting partially generated / corrupted typedefs.

@wmhilton LOL i know i just danced around it, i am happy that they exist

So I'm finding at this point, that I'm getting lots of "reindexing" messages from git itself, and then various/sundry issues with needing to run git gc.
git gc always fixes it...but it seems odd. It seems like a reference in the repo, has had its object file moved into a packfile, but the ref doesn't point at the packfile, instead it points to where the object file was.

    Hi there!
I've been running into an error after importing isomorphic-git in Svelte.

Anyone used it with Svelte and bundle it with Rollup?

After npm installing, I'm trying to import it at the entry point of the svelte app, just to try it out (in the main.js, not in a .svelte file) , but I get a reference error when I run the bundle in the browser.
I tried it inside a create-react-app project and everything works fine there, so I imagine the problem is with rollup?

Importing from unpkg works fine but I cannot tree shake that and I'm not sure unpkg is fast enough for production? Are cdnjs or jsdelivr better for production?
    Thanks for your opinions!

Hey, i'm currently trying to implement a simple gitwebui for my repositories and i'm stuck. I'm trying to get commit infos for a given file in a given branch like the commit message of the last commit that changed the file and the author as well as the timestamp of that commit.

Hey, how can i include avatarUrl in the getCommit Object returned ?

So that looks to my eye like it can't find the packfile's index.
if I run git gc from here, it will be fixed.
This happens trying to retrieve the latest commit from my notes ref.

Is there any way to get the local state of a repo to "reset"? I do a pull and get the Merges with conflicts are not supported yet. error, so I do checkout with force, but I get this every time. Do I need to do wipe on the fs and start over?

Is the internal API for uploadPack only implementing writeRefsAdResponse atm? or is there another branch that takes care of sending pack files as well?

Hi all, where can I find a simple clone example in a react app? I am trying to connect the dots of how to wire the lightning-fs with isomorphic-git in react.

I am able to make it work now..

My project uses typescript.. i am looking for a good file system library which provides typescript typings.. Can you experts please suggest one.. LightningFS, FilerJS and BrowserFS does not seem to provide typings. Please correct me if I am wrong.

Hey I am trying to integrate https://github.com/go-git/go-git (as a server) with isomorphic-git. Having issues with isomorphic-git hanging the browser. The repository is just a tiny repo with a single README.md file so it is definitely not an issues with size/space. Would greatly appreciate someone's help debug the issue. I have been digging into isomorphic source code for a little while now and almost entirely sure that the issues arises from the fact that go-git doesn't support side-band or side-band-64k capabilities yes but isomorphic-git is expecting the data to be as such. Or something like that that doesn't match up.

If anyone understands enough the implementation please let me know and share some of your knowledge.
    Konstantin Itskov
Pretty sure that this is exactly the problem. It seems that the isomorphic implementation assumes that side-band-64k capability and parses the packfile as such. Meaning that it expects a length + mux_type in front of every packfile chunk. But when implementing without side-band that info is not added. Just read to the end kinda deal. As you can see above there is not info about length right after 0008NAK\0PACK.
    Konstantin Itskov
Whelp never mind. I ended up implementing a side-band capability on the server side and it fixed the issue. Effectively it seems that isomorphic-git doesn't know how to handle parsing the non side-band or side-band-64k upload-pack. I am not entirely sure if this could be classified as an issue on the isomorphic-git or not since the documentation for git-http actually states that transmissions over http are going to be side-band be default. But I guess there is the cli tool as well. Just commenting on state of things.

Hi, I want to know how to using git push -u origin master -f
    Robbie Cronin
@trivigy I had to do the same thing as well, even when the server doesn't advertise sideband-64 it still asks for it. In my case I was trying to hack together a pure JavaScript implementation of a git backend using isogit: https://github.com/MatrixAI/js-polykey/blob/add-git-backend/src/lib/git/side-band/GitSideBand.ts
that comes directly from the Isogit http-reciever branch. It has been quiet for a while so I decided it's probably not going to get incorporated into Isogit anytime soon and so stiched together what I needed
