I like far future post apocalyptic. Like 5,000 years after the apocalypse. Very few human villages remain. Maybe a different species is at the top of the food chain. Nature has taken over. You are on a quest to find some artifact from the before times.
Perhaps bugs have grown giant like in Nausicaa and the Valley of The Wind
