You guys are building a tool with much better functionality but I was playing with this myself a couple of days back, wondering on keyboard how bad typesafety for individual properties would be. https://github.com/SRGOM/scala-css is a really dirty 1 hour result I thought I'll show you guys.
Nothing that hasn't been done already
Basically this is what I was referring to when I talked about type safety in the comment to scalajs-react#77 .

On the operator question: agreed with the others that I don't much care for ~ -- while it isn't a keyboard problem for me, it screams "parser" at me, and I think of it as a sequence operator, so using it for assignment just feels wrong. I don't have a sense of how much of a problem the op precedence issue would be, but if it doesn't actually come up as much in practice, I have to agree that I prefer :=, simply to reduce the mental gear-shifting in working with Scalatags...
