I also noticed when I disabled and uninstalled the plugin, 'Install' was greyed out heh.

weird
Kevin
@kevinquillen
Had to delete it in terminal to get it to let me install it again
I also looked at the API docs, it seems like specifying file types should work.

Yeah, I have only played with Atom for a bit but right now I'm not convinced there is enough benefit to leave my SublimeText
Kevin
@kevinquillen
It looks like others report the same issue, for Ruby and such. Certain types, but not all.
I use PHPStorm and RubyMine, but for projects that are neither, thought this could fit in. It's a little unpredictable right now ha.
Some of the UI isn't clear enough on what's really going on either.
Jason Hodges
@jasonhodges
yeah
So what do you do mostly?
Kevin
@kevinquillen
Custom apps built into Drupal mainly, but the occassional JS/Jekyll project as well
We're redoing our site in Jekyll for speed, and I fell into Atom to do the work
Jason Hodges
@jasonhodges
If you are looking for a stable text editor that has a bunch of customizable traits I'd highly suggest SublimeText
Kevin
@kevinquillen
But mostly a lot of API / third party integrations / data migrations / biz logic.
Jason Hodges
@jasonhodges
gotcha
Kevin
@kevinquillen
Yeah my buddy at linkedin swears by ST3

i'm the 'web guy' at my company and I'm working towards a degree in IT with Software Dev
Kevin
@kevinquillen
Nice
I would really love to shed the monolithic systems and build things in AngularJS or something similar. The wave of JS innovations in the last few years blows my mind.
I've done some C#/.NET too, and would never want to do that again. Ha.
Jason Hodges
@jasonhodges
I'm still new to all of it so I haven't yet settled on a path
Kevin
@kevinquillen
5-10 years ago, it was clear you had to pick a language, cross your fingers, and run with it
PHP/Ruby/Python etc are all a means to an end now, and despite language differences, more or less even in what they are capable of doing
Jason Hodges
@jasonhodges
Lately I've been thinking I should maybe focus on something like Java as the age of the 'Internet of Things' starts to evolve
Kevin
@kevinquillen
now, for applications at least, its smaller, faster, UX
I am not sure if the project will take off int he end, but the guys at meteor.com have created an interesting platform
Java will be around until the end of time for sure
Jason Hodges
@jasonhodges
plus my core software classes are going to be in Java ;)
Kevin
@kevinquillen
So much is happening so fast, everywhere, it's hard to keep track of what's going on in the development world
Jason Hodges
@jasonhodges
agrred
agreed
Kevin
@kevinquillen
I look at a /r/programming daily just to try and keep abrest of new things
