@jdubray it's because it's not "ng2" or "ng4", they are just "Angular" and they are versioned with respect to semver. So nobody is confused, everybody uses Angular and that's all :)
(i.e., you should just have upgraded the dependencies version in your first example instead of considering ng4 a different framework from ng2)

thank you. My brain may exhibiting a case of an outdated definition of "semantic versioning" (very hard to cure). It's a bit like Elm claiming they use semantic versioning and my brain noticed that every change in Elm a breaking change by design. It's still spinning its neurons on that one.

haha, you are exaggerating a bit for elm :) as always, you can change things in some library code while not changing publicly exposed data types and functions. They only claim to be able to detect there has been some changes to these publicly exposed APIs in libraries
