Good to know that there are finally only 2 classes which were obstacles
stellargo
@stellargo
Yesss!
Ok, well there are a lot of test failures :( looking into it
stellargo
@stellargo
JTH fails due to masking of dependency, will revert it to copying the classes

@stellargo
@oleg-nenashev I have made the changes, might need a bit careful reviewing since I am not experienced with it :P jenkinsci/postgresql-fingerprint-storage-plugin#17

@stellargo FYI I released a new version of https://plugins.jenkins.io/database-postgresql/ with latest dependency versions
if you're more interested in using it now that it's maintained :p

how does this plugin react to dns changes of the redis host? I am assuming worse case scenario it will adhere to the ttl of the jvm?
stellargo
@stellargo
@lifeofguenter The new host name and port would need to be specified. If not specified, and the old host and port does not have a Redis instance running, it will start throwing errors in the logs. Fingerprint metadata for those requests will be lost since the plugin does not have any local cache/buffer.
The connection timeout and socket timeout (that can be set in the config page) will be adhered to.

@lifeofguenter

thanks - apologies, I meant if the records for the same hostname change. essentially I am trying to figure out if I can use a clustered redis or need to rely on a failover (via dns) for high-availability

but guessing I can just use redis-cluster which should be safer

the postgresql fingerprint storage is highly anticipated by me. its a shame LTS just missed the external-storage-cleanup thing so will have to wait for the next LTS :)
does it mean though, after reading the JEP, that when using an external storage, no persistent storage (after a full migration) is anymore required? I suppose at a minimum CasC would be required?

Oleg Nenashev
@oleg-nenashev
@lifeofguenter Fingerprint storage is a part of the bigger story for storage: https://www.jenkins.io/sigs/cloud-native/pluggable-storage/ . More changes are needed until one can run Jenkins without a persistent storage

I am getting the following error with redis-plugin: "ERR wrong number of arguments for 'auth' command"
I have auth "none" but even if I select a foobar cred I get the same error
Günter Grodotzki
@lifeofguenter
fixed it by upgrading redis from 5.0 to 6.x - might be a AWS thing though
