Victor Maslov
@Nakilon
hello guys, I'm in the Selenium QA automation
the job made by the previous engineer used docker run, docker cp, docker exec commands all over the place and the "Working directory" browser obviously didn't work, so I decided to make it in another way
Victor Maslov
@Nakilon
I made a docker image very similar to official one https://github.com/jenkinsci/docker-ssh-slave, reconfigured all jobs, their parameters, changed the order, waiting conditions, etc., but the slave disconnects after some time
the reproduction iteration is rather slow but I guess I saw some logs timestamps clues that 1) the selenium job connects to the slave 2) then the SSH Slave plugin is doing some things there 3) it copies some jar and runs it
the question is: am I right that that jar run closes the SSH connection that was already established by the job? that would be an explanation and I have workaround idea, but I wanted to be sure I understaood right what's going on
I "broke" all this right before the weekend ..\ would be cool if I knew how to fix it and fix it until the Monday
Victor Maslov
@Nakilon

under the (2) and (3) I mean this: https://gist.github.com/Nakilon/d372b4262f84331a09f1a3919525a6df
also there are some exceptions that make Jenkins unable to read the status of the node, like swapfile size, etc. -- maybe it's because node lacks some packages I need to install or idk, but that is probably unrelated to the disconnect

my guess is that the disconnect of the selenium job is because that thing between 17:56:03 and 17:56:07 -- I want to know if my guess is correct

Victor Maslov
@Nakilon
I guess I'm wrong (
Victor Maslov
@Nakilon

either the slave wasn't even online at the moment the job tried to start (why wasn't it brought up automatically by the SSH Slave plugin?) or it was starting and then restarting and log gets cleared on restart ..\

https://gist.github.com/Nakilon/869d96749f577226bdfb71988773a413

Victor Maslov
@Nakilon
or maybe I was right
because I switched the slave to "Take this agent online when in demand, and offline when idle" mode and it seems to be working fine now -- Jenkins now tarts build only after finishing that jar stuff
bad thing is that after the build the slave goes offline and I probably lose the "browse working directory" ability but that's not a big deal because I can then launch slave manually

Hey Jenkins Devs! The current release of the Jenkins Hashicorp Vault plugin is broken when using v2 of the Vault API. The master branch has code that seems to fix the issue, but it's not available in a released version. Any idea when we can expect a new release to be cut? https://github.com/jenkinsci/hashicorp-vault-plugin
William Hetherington
@willwh
@AnalogJ I don't think it does?
that whole situation is frustrating haha
Jason Kulatunga
@AnalogJ
yeah, Its become a blocking issue for us. @willwh are you saying that the changes in master don't actually fix the issue?
Alex Earl
@slide
@AnalogJ None of the devs of that plugin hang out on here as far as I know
I'd recommend voting on a JIRA issue or something
Plugins are mantained either by a company or by community members, not sure which on that one

I Just added a PR to jx-release-version
jenkins-x/jx-release-version#32

This fix will fallback to base version and not "0.0.0". Though if base version cannot be found from file then it will use "0.0.0".

Working on adding support for automake, cmake and gradle.

Hello everyone,
I am new to Jenkins and am trying to contribute to Jenkins GitHub plugin, I am unable to login into issues tracker site whereas with the same credentials, I can login into accounts.jenkins.io , could someone please help me troubleshoot this? In case there's a designated channel for such issues, please do refer me to it and sorry about the spam

Hi, how to force Jenkins to automatically disconnect node after connection is lost? Lets say there is virtual machine with slave running and it is automatically reconnecting to jenkins. When snapshot is restored on this machine the connection with jenkins is lost briefly, sadly jenkins instead of disconnection the node and showing it as offline still thinks it is online and because of that the slave cannot connect because handshake is not successful. This fixes itself after some time but for me it takes too long. I can fix it manually bo going to node site and pressing disconnect but I want it to be done automatically. Any ideas?

Hello guys, what's the best way to get Jenkins pipeline workflow to allow config files & “base playbooks” & template to be version controlled and version locked using GIT ?

@suryaprakash639_twitter
hello
Leonidas
@argeas
Hi All , I am looking for a way to have a jenkinsfile shared amongst jobs. e.g. : have the jenkinsfile in a single place , and have say 10 pipeline jobs that use that jenkinsfile. ( I am trying to avoid fetching the jenkinsfile from github for every pipeline test job )
suryaprakash99
@suryaprakash639_twitter
how can i run enkins in tomcat
can you explain
Leonidas
@argeas
what do you mean run it in tomcat? @suryaprakash639_twitter
John83
@nelu083_twitter
I guess he means running Jenkins under tomcat. @suryaprakash639_twitter you need to install tomcat and then copy the jenkins.war file to the tomcat's webapps folder.

@steven-foster
anyone know if you can have a timeout for when a block/stage is in the queue and another timeout for while a block/stage is running on a node? in declarative pipeline

@rherrick
Hi, is anyone else running into the “calling thread has no associated channel” bug? https://issues.jenkins-ci.org/browse/JENKINS-57244
This is causing us a huge amount of grief on our Jenkins server.
This is assigned to @jglick, do you have any idea when a resolution might be released or should we look at rolling back our Jenkins version?
Sverre Moe
@DJViking
I now have made implementation for automake and cmake to jx-release-version. Waiting for my existing PR#31 to be merged before I submit new for these two.
Jesse Glick
@jglick
@rherrick the core amelioration was released weeks ago, just upgrade.

cool word, I hadn't heard that one before

Hi everyone. I need some pair of eyes to debug a problem :) Anyone sees what's wrong with:

node() {
    echo "test"
    def reader = currentBuild.rawBuild.getLogReader()
    reader.eachLine() { line ->
        echo "Line: ${line}"
        if (line.matches(".*test.*")) {
            echo "got it!"
        }
    }
}

It's printing only the 1st log line. More details on https://issues.jenkins-ci.org/browse/JENKINS-54128?focusedCommentId=367383&page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel#comment-367383

Thx!

some flush issue?
(if so, is there a way to flush the log writing so that getLogReader gets all the log content?)
Vincent Massol
@vmassol
note that using def reader = currentBuild.rawBuild.getLogText().readAll() yield the same result
Vincent Massol
@vmassol
ok seems to be related to groovy since calling currentBuild.rawBuild.getLogReader().getText() works
Vincent Massol
@vmassol
Actually the eachLine issue could be this one: https://issues.jenkins-ci.org/browse/JENKINS-46988
Vincent Massol
@vmassol

getting weird, the following fails:

node() {
    echo "test"
    def reader = currentBuild.rawBuild.getLogReader()
    def br = new BufferedReader(reader)
    def line = null
    def buffer = new ArrayList()
    while (line = br.readLine()) {
        buffer.add(line)
    }
    echo "RESULT: ${buffer}"
}

but the following works:

node() {
    echo "test"
    def reader = currentBuild.rawBuild.getLogReader()
    def br = new BufferedReader(reader)
    def line = null
    def buffer = new ArrayList()
//    while (line = br.readLine()) {
//        buffer.add(line)
//    }
    buffer.add(br.readLine())
    buffer.add(br.readLine())
    buffer.add(br.readLine())
    echo "RESULT: ${buffer}"
}

Note that name...."centos-build-"....there should be more there...

--> Where can I find a good doc on how build phases are handled?

(i.e. "pre-submit" vs "master" vs whatever needs to be at the end of that name)
