I think I can see what's happening.
When it gets to this line it's unable to create a file in a directory that doesn't exist.
So this works .../project/views/index.jade but this doesn't because there's no test directory in public .../project/views/test/index.jade
But if I manually pre-create a test folder in public, it outputs the file fine.
Is this something roots should handle or would I need to write some code in the write hook to create the output folder?

Or is it possible to make it create the directory if it doesn't exist?

At what point does roots create the public folder structure?

Hmm, would I have to return an array of promises from the write hook using the RootsUtil write function?
