has anyone else experienced this issue with roots-yaml? Only my first yaml file in the data directory gets loaded into data

@Pranz Yep, that's the workaround for now & images.
It does bring into question (for me) whether roots should be global or not.
Should we be specifying a roots version per-project?

@SevereOverfl0w I always recommend including roots as a dependency in package.json - also required for continous deploys with netlify, but think it’s generally a good idea with any static site generator, to lock down dependencies as much as possible
I even think something like https://docs.npmjs.com/cli/shrinkwrap should become a best practise
otherwise there’s a really big chance of having to spend a long time getting things working if you ever have to just do a fresh git checkout of your project and get it to build - and you have the risk of builds behaving differently on different machines or on CI boxes, etc...

@biilmann That wasn't part of the default "roots new" image, so I wasn't sure what the official status of it was.
The roots documentation isn't as thorough as I'd like.
I keep wanting to contribute tidbits, but I'm not sure where to put them.

it’s tricky, since you do kinda want to have a global roots command for creating new projects etc, but I would love to see the default roots new image include roots in the package.son - not sure what @jenius thinks

@biilmann Could include roots at the current version, in the package.json
I think Gulp has something where it just tries to call the local gulp.

@SevereOverfl0w thanks for that fix, i'll check out the PR and get this merged in the next day or two
as for docs contributing, it's here: https://github.com/carrot/roots-www
and the roots default template is here: https://github.com/roots-dev/base
@Pranz how much debugging have you done here? are you sure it's firing? hitting the right files?

@jenius Always happy to help. T'was a fairly easy fix.

I meant more, how to organize the docs

@johnpeele you can use whatever is best for your project! personally i usually go with browserify, but js pipeline works fine as well
@philhawksworth yup, @SevereOverfl0w got it. we do not support jinja or nunjucks yet. i need to add more clear docs on how to use different languages, but i'm very short on time at this point and working part time, im sorry! doing my best :)

Would it be appropriate to create a new section about views, to include things like the default locals (_path for example), and other languages.

Aug 22 2015 20:53
@SevereOverfl0w - thanks! yeah that would be perfectly fine. the organization should be fairly clear, I welcome any ideas about organization or new pages
if you are not sure just open an issue with your proposal and i'll give feedback on it
i think the views idea is great

Unrelated, but, @jenius, I love your http://worldtripp.in idea. I might try that with my girlfriend after she finishes university.
Excellent, well next time the things to document pops into my head, I'll make sure to contribute it back.
