the yo-rc is the generated file. The jh file is where you save your entity's structure

so, suppose you have a monolithic app created with jhipster and it is so successful that people now want it to be highly-available. what does one do?
Alejandro Matos
@amatosg
you use kubernetes :)
Daniel LaFlamme
@dlaflamme
as a monolith, or restructured as a jhipster microservice?

It is not the first time that I get out of memory during the test ("./mvnw verify"). All of near 90 tests fails. After some online search, I learn that JAVA_OPTS setting is needed. But I haven't figured out how to set it on MacBook. Any other solutions?

Is there a way to remove an entity?
Alejandro Matos
@amatosg
@dlaflamme it can also be used with monolithic projects
@vw98075 I had this problem before. I had to create another project and migrate my code :(
@johnpoole I would delete the backend entity and dto and then solve issues, then remove the frontend entity and also resolve

@vw98075
@amatosg That was a backup solution I had in mind. Does your situation have something to do with H2?
Alejandro Matos
@amatosg
sorry I never use H2, I always use the same db has prod

@vw98075
I still encounter the java heap space error after I run the test in a new project folder.
V W
@vw98075
In the CD, the same error occurs. So, increasing my local memory doesn't solve the problem.
Alejandro Matos
@amatosg
how much ram do you have?
V W
@vw98075
I saw about 4G memory usage increase during the integration test. I set Xmx to 8G in jvm.config and .zshrc without luck.

SELECT SUM(software.price) FROM sales AS sales JOIN software AS software ON software.id= sales.software_id
this is my query with sql , I don t know how to make it with h2
Alejandro Matos
@amatosg
"SELECT SUM(entity.software.price) FROM sales entity AS sales entity JOIN software entity AS software entity ON entity.software.id= entity.sales.software_id" this won't work as "sales entity" is not valid

are you querying from Hibernate or is it a native query?

Hello guys, could somebody please give a look to this problem I'm having with Jhipster compilation? https://stackoverflow.com/questions/69515255/jhipster-problem-with-filer-attempt-to-recreate-a-file-for-type-during-comp

Hello all,
I would like to directly execute SQL statement in my app, so I use DriverManager.getConnection("jdbc:h2:file:./target/h2db/db/myApp;USER=MyApp").createStatement() in order to get a direct SQL connection to the H2 database (Bypassing JPA).
Since, the app will use a Mysql database when in production, I would like to write something that will chose automatically the current database url.
So how to have access to the spring boot connection property defined and used in the JHipster generated source?

@emilpaw
Hey, I extended a service method to create the entity and also some directly associated entities. Now I want to add error handling to this method. That means all the .save() calls I did in this method should be rolled back if there is an exception thrown along the way. For this I used the @Transcational annotation. This seems to work,but in my tests the repositories are not reset when an error occurs. I think it's because they are Transactional too. Is there a way to get around this issue?
Alejandro Matos
@amatosg
@zackzack02 you want to run an SQL query? Why don't you use JpaRepsotiroy?

@emilpaw try adding rollback=Exception.class to the @Transactional annotation

Hi, can I post a call for participants in an interview study on open source projects here? If any mod wants more details via DM first, then I'm happy to oblige :)
Alejandro Matos
@amatosg
just post it :)

Hello everyone
Is there any way to convert idl files to pdf?
Noah Wöhler
@NoahWoehler_twitter
Sure, I wasn't sure whether this falls under advertising. We are looking for open source contributors who are willing to talk to us about how security and trust are handled within their projects' communities. This is the landing page with more info: https://research.teamusec.de/2021-interviews-oss/

I want to have a field in my entities that is a "user payload" and that wont be interpreted by the frontend or backend--essentially i want it to just be stored and passed through as a string. having a hard time getting this working if that string is a JSON blob, because the code always wants to be able to serialize/deserialize it automatically. Has anyone done this before and gotten it to work?
Alejandro Matos
@amatosg
isn't there an annotation called @JsonIgnore? I'm not sure though
