    a finger on the pulse of all things Joomla, you need to be monitoring more than a dozen different networks. For people who wish to help others, this spreads them too thin. I think a period of consolidation is in order.

    @mickmackusa
    I am going to be urging Joomla Australia to merge its JUG Meetups into one entity (save money) and schedule the meeting so that there is never two aussie meetings at the same time and stream the meeting so that other cities can enjoy cross-pollination and fresh perspectives. With this in place Joomla users can actually accomplish more while doing less. Furthermore, JoomlaDay Australia 2019 is expanding its region to include all of Oceania -- many Joomla users in these countries are operating outside of comfort of an actual "group".
    It is not too late to think deeply and clearly about what makes good sense and helps Joomla to prosper.

    Hi. I want to know if it is possible to access the event OnBeforeCompileHead from my file mod_mymodule.php or if the events are only usable in the context of plugin for joomla?
    Luke Douglas
    @LukeDouglas2

    @mickmackusa [Joomla 3][Gantry 5][PHP 7.2] Mick, sounds like a solid plan on the consolidation. In my opinion, the issue with Gitter is the single thread without subject segregation. I have voiced this more than once but, so far, there has not been any change in the overall functionality. Sure, you can create separate conversations which I have used a few times with other users but that 'really' isn't the same thing. With Google Groups we had that capability just like Joomla Stack Exchange.

    Hopefully, the development team at Gitter will re-evaluate this and give an option to add a subject line with a option in the left sidebar under ALL CONVERSATION to have an option for All comments which would give a display like the one it has now and another option for All Subjects which would give a summary of Subject lines. That way, those who like it now can still have that functionality but those of us who would prefer seeing the subject title of each thread would be provided that ability.

    Right now, it is just way too difficult to follow different inputs into the same problem someone is having.

    @mickmackusa
    @LukeDouglas2 I don't see a need for gitter to change what they are offering. Even if loads of features/enhancements were implements it would still be an inferior design for solving specific Joomla CMS issues. As I reread this year-long thread yesterday, it is dotted with vague, broad,
    And/
    Or under-researched / unattempted questions. Stack Exchange has rules to duscourage such things because these questions end up being unattractive to answer or perpetuate a cycle of "help vampirism".
    Mick Harner
    @mickmackusa
    Even if a knowledgeable soul was willing and able to help, the effort would do little more than serve as a 1-to-1 interaction -- this is simply ineffective and inefficient consisering the global pool of Joomla users who inevitably need a hand from time to time.
    Forcing Joomla users to fashion considered, complete, researched, attempted questions actually helps them to become better users/developers. Joining the Stack Exchange community was the greatest decision I made in my career. Not only did I quickly learn how to solve different issues, I learned best practice, adopted better coding standards, and learned industry terms which in turn helped me to research better.
    Mick Harner
    @mickmackusa
    Gitter is an appropriate forum for Git related conversations, but all specific Joomla support questions should be diverted to JSX. I believe there should be a place for every thing. The task now is that we focus on putting things where they best fit so that everyone can easily find everything.

    @mickmackusa he ( @zhurchick_twitter ) is just a spammer. I have reported his comment of

    others should do the same.

    you'r a spammer
    I'm not a spammer
    I hate the joomla 'cause it's so stupid CMS. I don't like its architecture and all the rest. I was losing my hair when building sites with the joomla.

    @zhurchick_twitter Again, I've reported your comments as spam as they have no bearing here. Go spew your hatred for Joomla elsewhere.

    Mick Harner
    @mickmackusa
    You will notice in the Joomla backend, that there is a Help tab in the navigation menu. That dropmenu contains "Stack Exchange" as an item -- this is where team Joomla wants you to post your support questions BECAUSE it is a superior format to share insights and has battle-tested rules about how to ask a specific/narrow question including a Minimal, Verifiable, Complete example which will ultimately help the asker, future researchers, and awards contributors for there support. Gitter is meant to be a place where people discuss Git-based things. Please post your question on JoomlaStackExchange.

    Thanks I did a few days ago, but as is common the Joomla community is dead and especially the developers who for years broke the feedback of the people.

    @mickmackusa
    @Diegopintos I'm sorry that you have not yet received support from the 100% volunteer audience at JSE. The only thing that you can do is continue to edit/refine your question and hope that it makes sense to someone who can help. (Typos reduce question clarity.) If you require urgent support, you may need to seek paid Joomla support.

    Hello. I working on a simple module that have a simple backend form composed with custom field and I looking for a event to process something during it submition. If anyone have an idea on how to do this.

    Thanks in advance :)

    Carlos M.
    @carcam_twitter
    Hi @BeRoots , do you mean to process the form settings after clicking save on module configuration?
    Sebastien Deschamps
    @BeRoots
    @carcam_twitter, Yes. Ideally i want to resize and create thumbnail from an uploaded image when the form is submit. I look on this way at this time to create a plugin for my module to do this: https://docs.joomla.org/Supporting_plugins_in_your_component
    I think to create a custom event onBeforeSave to do this. What do you think about it ?
    Sebastien Deschamps
    @BeRoots
    ...
    In fact my main question is whether it is possible to directly integrate a plugin within a module (or component) rather than creating a dedicated plugin. If anyone will tell me that :)
    Carlos M.
    @carcam_twitter
    You can use an extension family plugin that calls onExtensionBeforeSave event. If you are thinking on using an existing plugin you my create an extension plugins that call the existing one after the module is saved.
    Mick Harner
    @mickmackusa
    Can we all agree to think bigger here? If you are seeking coding support, ask a question on JoomlaStackExchange. If you are wanting to discuss something specifically relevant to JOOMLA and GITHUB then use GITTER. Why use JSE? Because it is a superior format for processing and archiving specific questions and articulaye answers in a way that is easily found via search engine results. Please avoid seeking support via Facebook, YouTube, LinkedIn, Gitter, etc because even if someone can help you, there help will be limited to a 1-to-1 interaction. Conversely, JoomlaStackExchange, StackOverflow, and JoomlaForum are dedicated site designed for this very purpose. Please transfer relevant correspondence from here to JSE, then continue offering support on JSE. I don't mean to be demanding, it just makes absolutely no sense for people to ask for or provide support for non-github issues here.
    Hi
    ...ugh, I can't even correct my typos here.

    hey guys, anyone knows how to make a plugin with thats gives a message to accept cookie to the tuser
    Mick Harner
    @mickmackusa
    @Engjell00 If you have performed some research and have made an attempt to self-solve, then you have enough ingredients to post a good question on Joomla Stack Exchange (which is where Team Joomla would like you to post support questions -- evidenced by a link being provided in the Help menu in the Administration/backend of every Joomla site). Posts on Gitter should exclusively pertain to Joomla questions relevant to Git topics, not general Joomla support questions. Before posting on JSE, please take the tour and learn about how to craft a "good" question. Posting clear, complete, researched questions in JSE will help you to receive the highest quality support and help future researchers to locate valuable knowledge for years into the future. Effectively, you can support Joomla while receiving support yourself: Win-Win!
    Engjell Bislimi
    @Engjell00
    I'm sorry I just started to learn Joomla since the internship I got today. I've been told to make a plugin for this functionality. I'm sorry I didn't mean to burden you.
    Engjell Bislimi
    @Engjell00
    and since most of the ''plugin'' already made for this functionality and I need to pay to see an example it's kinda not helping me
    Mick Harner
    @mickmackusa
    You don't need to apologize, you are not burdening me. I am merely trying to usher you to a better suited support community. You should research Joomla Forum and Joomla Stack Exchange and StackOverflow. If you are stuck after researching, ask a question on JSE, it is a site that has been purposely designed to elegantly display support questions and it sorts posted answers from most valuable to least valuable. I prefer not to research on "forums" because the format typically involves heaps of scrolling and is often bloated with advertisements and unnecessary chatter. I hope you find your resolution. Good luck.
    Mick Harner
    @mickmackusa
    You are sure to see some free plugins in the "Joomla Extensions Directory" (JED) have a look.

    @Engjell00
    @mickmackusa yes thank you. I just have a little bit difficulty since they asked me to create one and I never did joomla before. thanks for the kind help

    @LukeDouglas2
    @Engjell00 [Joomla 3][Gantry 5][PHP 7.2] Engjell, just be sure to always obtain your add-on's via a link obtained on the Joomla.org Extension page. Never download and install an add-on from a 3rd party source. It is safer!
    Luke Douglas
    @LukeDouglas2
    @mickmackusa [Joomla 3][Gantry 5][PHP 7.2] Stack Exchange is a good vehicle for asking questions and posting answers as it is subject thread based. I just wish that Gitter had the same functionality as it is used by quite a few people. Maybe it would be better to have a "gantry5/joomla", "gantry5/wordpress" and "gantry5/grav" conversations to separate into the three areas that Gantry covers. I never or rarely respond to any 'WordPress' or 'Grav' questions as I am dedicated to Joomla. :)
    Mick Harner
    @mickmackusa
    @LukeDouglas2 Stack Overflow and Stack Exchange sites are IMO superior platforms for exchanging knowledge compared to any other forum/thread format. They are designed to be all "lean meat" and no noise (well, they are designed to be that way anyhow, I blame humans for any messes). Support questions and answers that hit ANY forum/thread system are notoriously hard to navigate and "good" advice gets "lost". I don't really think my SE fanboy-ism is contributing too much bias here, I've never found an online platform that outperforms SO/SE.
    Luke Douglas
    @LukeDouglas2
    @mickmackusa It's not a problem being a 'fanboy-ism' about SO/SE. We all have our own preferences and opinions which is each person right. I'll still be poking my head into the 5-6 platforms that I use. :)
    Engjell Bislimi
    @Engjell00
    maybe i'm just a millenial that wants the answer the fastest possible hahahhaa
    Engjell Bislimi
    @Engjell00
    I asked on stack exchange my issue was resolve but I feel like most of the questions asked on that platform are just ignored lol.
