@ysb33r outside of the executable jar stuff, what is the point of the jar plugin for your usecases?
I suppose I don't entirely grok how the jar is supposed to work when the shadowjar stuff isn't integrated

@ysb33r okay, I might be daft but I cannot get 0.1.1 of the jar plugin to work
@ysb33r see this gist which is being run from this code

Sometimes you just want to pack a couple of gems with a piece of java/jruby, and use that jar as you would any other jar - asciidoctorj is the best example

How the heck did I miss that??
For now just add a dependency compile "org.jruby:jruby-complete:${jruby.defaultVersion}"

did you see my other issue? #10

10? on what repository?
Ah, nm. I’ve seen it
Yes, it should actually be listed in the compile dependency
For now, you did the correct workaround, by applying both plugins

shoudl it depend on 0.1.+ or 0.+. I cannot remember what the decision was on version dependencies between our plugins. Was it at minor version or major version?
Can you also just raise an issue for the other problem you have?

I was so focused on shadowJar that I missed the dependency that compile should have on jruby-complete

@ysb33r I would stick with the minor versions right now

That workaround I mentioned earlier will get it to build at least
BTW I have a branch where I have been playing with having a Ruby project as a subproject of gradle i.e. src/ruby/. The idea is to layout your ruby project as per normal below src/ruby, then get gradle to call rake to build the project and create the gems.
Still early days though

@ysb33r is that branch published? I'd be interested in looking into your work
