man this is infuriating, been banging my head on this most of the day
the JRubyJarConfiguratoris quite clever but I can't figure how to reuse it :/

@rtyler are you aware that I removed shadowJar in jruby-gradle/jruby-gradle-jar-plugin#38 ?

I hadn't noticed it, is that because you replicated the copying logic for creating a fat jar?

well, I figured out my problem finally
it appears that some of the magic in the shadowJar plugin explodes spectacularly if you don't have some attributes it expects to be set

creating a runnable jar is a matter of unzipping two jars and I found my self switching the build.gradle from jar or shadowJar all the time. probably a newby problem to get the expected results.

I don't think the functionality provided by shadowjar is too complex to replicate in the right fashion for jruby-gradle-jar

@mkristian overall I'm looking forward to you wrapping up these changes, I have a feeling they're going to make my work on the service-artifact-plugin much easier

@ysb33r FYI, it appears the the issues I were having had to do with load and execution ordering in my test suites and elsewhere

Looks like you people have been hacking quite a bit over the weekend. (/me has been attending to the Ysb33r family Farm :-) instead)

@mkristian this build going to go green in travis any time soon for #110
@mkristian do you think @headius would be open to bringing jruby-mains into the jruby org? if not, I think it'd be fine in the jruby-gradle org
Charles Oliver Nutter
@headius
Apr 20 2015 14:33
what's jruby-mains?
IMHO it's useful for ruby-maven, jruby-gradle and warbler projects

Apr 20 2015 14:34
ahh nice
R. Tyler Croy
@rtyler
Apr 20 2015 14:34
that way we're all using a more consistent library for launching
Charles Oliver Nutter
@headius
Apr 20 2015 14:34
yeah, we have done one-off versions of some of these but consistency is nice :-)

I have no objection, @enebo probably won't care

Apr 20 2015 14:47
@rtyler I wanted to ask @headius + @enebo for a long time question - but was felt this being so important to actually ask it ;)
getting the build green - OK. gradle integration test is next to look at :)

heh
@mkristian I believe if you add @headius as a collaborator to mkristian/jruby-mains then he can transfer the repository, or we could just fork it into the jruby org
Christian Meier
@mkristian
Apr 20 2015 14:59
@headius if you could just create the repo and make sure I do have push rights then I just push things there. would like to "delete" the old repo then.

@ysb33r I don't believe so

@mkristian Now that I can see where you are going with jruby-main, it looks pretty good to be using that inside the gradle plugin.
