@ysb33r there was I typo in my last patch. I pushed it and we can revisit it when we combine the to jruby executions into one. and then look at the jruby version which is introduce this feature: 1.7.13
@ysb33r @rtyler the idea of me and jar-dependencies is treat gems and jars as much as possible alike. prepareGems + prepareJars
once the jars are layout the way jar-dependencies needs them to be (maven repo layout) then all you need to run your application is to set GEM_HOME, GEM_PATH, JARS_HOME to let jruby find the gems + jars
for the jar you pack JARS_HOME and GEM_HOME into the jar and they will work with JRuby. jruby-mains will set those env explicitly to avoid picking accidently gems + jars outside of you application jar

I still think using JARS_HOME for execute jruby is the better choice since all the problems we fix there will reflect on the application jar and vica versa
@rtyler yes there was internet on the flight but I did not get the idea to try it out

@ysb33r I did reorganize the copy tasks a bit - should be easier to understand now then before. feel free to suggest more improvements

@mkristian, you might want to just check what was merged in to master and update your PR. I can probably look at it over the weekend.

I saw the green on travis and the jrubyVersion you introduced. that does the trick. let's keep it this way and focus on the next step ;)

@ysb33r somehow I've found yet another usecase where I need to generate files in a task

I wish there was an easier way to do this, I'm contemplating just ripping off the GeneratedGradleRb task

you should refactor this into a plugin ;)
I don't really need a template so much, as I just need to take some JSON and dump it into a file
but it doesn't look like CopySpec allows for that

this would be something going tinto a Tar and Ziptask too

create the file in a separate task and then include it in the CopySpec

yeah, I think that's my only option
