@ysb33r I got it, anything in particular you want from me? i.e. proof-reading or something?
Schalk W. Cronjé

Nope, if you have feedback, find errors etc. the feedback would be good. If you think the format works, let me know.

I’m planning to push out preview updates evry two weeks now, until I’ve completed 13 of the recipes to a state where I like and have a decent prefce written. AT that point it can go on sale and I’ll just add the last 12 recipes.

@ysb33r did you submit a jruby/gradle talk to greachconf?
Schalk W. Cronjé
@ysb33r
Oct 21 2015 22:56
Nope.
I need to think about creating something that would be of interest to the crowd. I actually need to contribute some fixes to project again, then I’ll have a better idea.

heh
@ysb33r I think you or I could give a compelling deep/advanced talk about Gradle plugin testing there
Schalk W. Cronjé
@ysb33r
Oct 21 2015 23:00
yeah. I submitted a proposal on writing plugins and testing is included
R. Tyler Croy

you gotta dig more into testkit
(if you haven't already)
Schalk W. Cronjé
@ysb33r
Oct 21 2015 23:01
When gr8conf opens it CFP I’ll propose a workshop there as well *university day’ which can include a lot more in-depth testing
I’m digging into testkit in the next couple of weeks as part of the book.
need to explain where gradleTest works and where testkit works
R. Tyler Croy
@rtyler
Oct 21 2015 23:02
testkit is a bit rough
I'm not thrilled with their APIs
Schalk W. Cronjé
@ysb33r
Oct 21 2015 23:03
like a number of things the Gradle APIs take some time to mature
R. Tyler Croy
@rtyler
Oct 21 2015 23:04
sure
the cathedral nature that some gradle work gets done still irks me

On a side note, I do refer to JRuby-Gradle in my talks. there are a number of good examples that I can draw upon to provide real use-cases instead of theory
Actually even the book has some references to the project
R. Tyler Croy
@rtyler
Oct 21 2015 23:05
ohnoes
good thing we stabilized that API :P

The <<JRubyGradle>> project might want to add a default repository for finding Ruby GEM packages. The first step is to
create (or re-use) an extension class and add a `boolean` property.

yay asciidoc
Schalk W. Cronjé
@ysb33r
Oct 21 2015 23:08
Do you know the whole book is written with asciidoctor?
R. Tyler Croy
@rtyler
Oct 21 2015 23:08
I assumed as much
I'm surprised you don't tweet in asciidoc
Schalk W. Cronjé

Even the publishing to Leanpub is done with the experimental asciidoctor-leanpub-converter which is not even released yet.
