Some of the best examples are in there. If you want to know the API of say a block it is probably easiest to just look at the asciidoctorj 1.6.0 branch.

I;m only saying that becasue that is how I came to know the AST
had to learn what was going on in order to write a full-blown backend in Groovy

On a side note - you should consider submitting something to Greach on Jenkins (i.e. the Groovy DSL for the build pipeline of something).
