YES!!!

Mar 31 2015 10:55
@tomlane - yup, that would be great if you have time. I'm going to be exposing some twitter feeds for the hack day too - can I work with you to get your raildata stream in the same project?
Tom Lane
@tomlane
Mar 31 2015 10:59
@benfoxall Sure! A project hosted on the jsoxford github org? Could start tracking stuff on there.

Just fired up the data miner again because by the look of it things are falling apart at Paddington :wink2:

So, would anybody like to spread my Tweet about a front-end dev position in Oxford? https://twitter.com/omgmog/status/582894727223214080

How much you guys pay? ;)
Max Glenister
@omgmog
Mar 31 2015 14:05
"competitive" ;)
drop a CV over to allenshaw@2degreesnetwork.com, tell him I sent you, and see where it goes :D
Marcus Noble
@AverageMarcus
Mar 31 2015 14:07
I hate the word "competitive". Immediately puts me off a job listing.
Max Glenister
@omgmog
Mar 31 2015 14:08
I think they're looking for mid-high 30's for pay, depending on experience
Marcus Noble
@AverageMarcus
Mar 31 2015 14:08
They really should put that :p
Max Glenister
@omgmog
Mar 31 2015 14:09
have been mostly going through recruiters who have the numbers, but not finding many candidates through that route
Marcus Noble
@AverageMarcus
Mar 31 2015 14:09

Max Glenister
@omgmog
Mar 31 2015 14:11

@AverageMarcus not sure about that, going by your work on the new jsoxford, you might be perfect ;)

Mar 31 2015 14:13
We should do the micro-pitches thing at the beginning of the RTHack, I know a couple of people are recruiting/running projects atm
Marcus Noble
@AverageMarcus
Mar 31 2015 14:13
I lack Angular, and would only be considered a novice in python + django
@spikeheap :+1: Been wanting to do this for a while, right?
Max Glenister
@omgmog
Mar 31 2015 14:14
the role isn't doing any angular or python, it's pure frontend sass/html/small amount of js, the rest of the team are python/js and will provide the front-end with anything that's needed
Ryan Brooks
@spikeheap
Mar 31 2015 14:14
@AverageMarcus, but importantly, you have the aptitude to pick them up quickly – good companies always hire for aptitudes rather than skills

2degrees promote learning on the job, and will pay for books, online courses/videos, etc.
Marcus Noble
@AverageMarcus
Mar 31 2015 14:15
I'll think about it :)
Max Glenister
@omgmog
Mar 31 2015 14:15

Marcus Noble
@AverageMarcus
Mar 31 2015 14:16
@spikeheap yeah, when I find something that interests me I will blaze my way through it :)

Just ordered a new custom built laptop, what you think is the chance of it arriving by RTHack?
Tom Lane
@tomlane
Mar 31 2015 16:48
Anything is possible if you throw enough money at it
Marcus Noble
@AverageMarcus
Mar 31 2015 17:05
I threw about £650 at it
It days 4-6 business days so hopefully a week on Friday at the latest
Doesn't give me long to install os's and software though
Tom Lane
@tomlane
Mar 31 2015 17:06
...You mean you don't have a script for that? :wink2:
Marcus Noble
@AverageMarcus
Mar 31 2015 17:08
Nah. Gonna do a dual boot setup so will take a bit of time
Tom Lane
@tomlane
Mar 31 2015 17:10
Ah fair enough. I'm dual booting on the desktop at the moment. Fedora and Win10 (mistake)
Marcus Noble
@AverageMarcus
Mar 31 2015 17:11
Gonna be Fedora and win 7 for me.

Mar 31 2015 19:08
Hi @AverageMarcus, just looked at your PR again. I much prefer the LESS @import approach :)
Marcus Noble
@AverageMarcus
Mar 31 2015 19:09
yeah me too
Ryan Brooks
@spikeheap
Mar 31 2015 19:10
I’m just switching out the committed CSS/fonts for Bower versions and I’ll push to that PR + I think it’s good for a merge
Marcus Noble
@AverageMarcus
Mar 31 2015 19:11
awesome!
Ryan Brooks
@spikeheap
Mar 31 2015 19:16
Right, I’ve pushed up those changes to jsoxford/jsoxford.github.com#73, if someone could check them over that would be great
BTW @AverageMarcus I think your setup clobbers line endings. Might be worth setting it to UNIX-style (or auto?).
Marcus Noble
@AverageMarcus
Mar 31 2015 19:27
yeah I noticed that earlier. Seems to be something funny on my work laptop.

Ben Foxall

Mar 31 2015 21:06
not sure if it was related, but imagemin wanted a newer version of npm - https://travis-ci.org/jsoxford/jsoxford.github.com/builds/56630936#L147
Ryan Brooks
@spikeheap
Mar 31 2015 21:06

We should NW.js it ;)

Mar 31 2015 21:17
Ah @benfoxall could you turn off PR builds please? https://travis-ci.org/jsoxford/jsoxford.github.com/settings
It’s trying to build the PRs, which would mean the site would be deployed… :fire: :-1:
Scratch that, I was able to change it
