I’m pretty excited about Saturday
Do we have any outstanding things to do? @benfoxall you put the tech overview on the schedule - are you down to do that or do we want to split it? I’m happy to compere if you want to do the run-in and get people up to speed

@spikeheap yo! I'll be fine doing the intro bumf (I don't think there's going to be all that much really). I was thinking of having some breakout sessions for people who are new to the tech, things like - "let's work together and build a chat room" - would you want to lead one of those? I'm going to be working on this tonight if you wanted to chat about it.

Yeah that sounds ace, both running a session and chatting about it tonight
Thinking about breakfast, how are we doing with pastries?

Ben Foxall
@benfoxall
Apr 09 2015 18:04
totally - also merge buttons on any project that continuously deploys
perhaps they could be combined "merge all PRs"
can I chat to you about train data?
Marcus Noble
@AverageMarcus
Apr 09 2015 18:14

Tom Lane

@benfoxall Sure. What's up?
Ben Foxall
@benfoxall
Apr 09 2015 18:17
@AverageMarcus think I'm okay for now - would be handy for some suggestions for jsoxford/RTHackPack once I've got some content in there (probably about 1.5h)
Marcus Noble
@AverageMarcus
Apr 09 2015 18:17

@benfoxall
Apr 09 2015 18:17
ace! I'll give you a shout when there's something up there!
@tomlane I was wondering if it would make sense to get a script in https://github.com/jsoxford/RTData for exposing some train data through pusher?
Tom Lane
@tomlane
Apr 09 2015 18:24
@benfoxall I've got a server out in the clouds somewhere for the bridge/client to sit on. Was going to use socket.io but I could just relay everything to pusher and opensource the client alongside.
Ben Foxall
@benfoxall
Apr 09 2015 18:31
@tomlane (sorry, popped away from my computer) that would be super - I think pusher will make it super easy for people to get up and running with it and the other streams (can provide a working examples in the RTHackPack)
are you free for a quick chat about it?
Tom Lane
@tomlane
Apr 09 2015 18:34
In about 30mins I'll be free if that works?
Ben Foxall
@benfoxall

yup! This is great stuff @tomlane - really looking forward to seeing what people do with it on Saturday
Ben Foxall
@benfoxall
Apr 09 2015 20:45
urgh - looks like the movement messages might be too big for pusher
Tom Lane
@tomlane
Apr 09 2015 20:46
thats annoying. The movement messages are easier ones to understand (relatively). :worried:
Ben Foxall
@benfoxall
Apr 09 2015 20:47
perhaps direct socket.io is going to be better for now
Tom Lane
@tomlane
Apr 09 2015 20:48
Could do. I've just put a domain on it. Waiting for DNS to catch up then it will be http://raildata.rocks:3000 that socket.io will be running on.
Ben Foxall
@benfoxall

Ben Foxall

Apr 09 2015 20:56
seems to go offline sometimes - is that because you're tweaking it?
Tom Lane
@tomlane
Apr 09 2015 20:57
Yeah. Trying to change port caused smoke and fire...whoopsie

@tomlane would you be able to give something for '[About this data]' on http://jsoxford.com/RTHackPack/demos/openraildata.html ?
I've also shoved some readme to https://github.com/jsoxford/RTHackPack - giving a bit of an overview about the purpose of the hack pack
Tom Lane
@tomlane
Apr 09 2015 22:21
Sure. I'll have a look now!
Ben Foxall

Apr 09 2015 22:22
