Hey @peterjwest, my postcode is OX2 9NX
@benfoxall should definitely consider BBQ-based MKGN prep

So @spikeheap do you have a plan for tomorrow?
Ryan Brooks
@spikeheap
Jun 05 2015 13:12
Yeah, the beginnings of one
10:ish - anyone keen to help hack on some open data and come up with a talk for Wednesday can turn up
12:30 we'll fire up the BBQ
boredom:30 I can drop people back in Cumnor if needed
Bring something to throw on the BBQ, I'll provide charcoal, power and wifi
The guy from YourNextMP hasn't got back to me, so we'll have to assume he's not up for giving a talk for now
@AverageMarcus will you be driving or heading up on the train?
I think Tom and Jo from OxRUG might be coming along too with a statistician in tow too

@spikeheap I'm going to drive. Makes things much easier.
Any more ideas on what open data would be of interest?

I'm quite keen to take a look at the Gitter API at some point for another project.

OpenCorporates looks interesting, as does MyNextMP
There's quite a bit of data in the open gov system, but some of it is pretty horrendous (PDFs, etc)
Marcus Noble
@AverageMarcus
Jun 05 2015 13:19
yeah I've seen some really bad and outdated data
Ryan Brooks
@spikeheap
Jun 05 2015 13:20
I guess the aim of the day is to come up with something interesting to talk about on Wednesday, so even if we just get some examples to pull out of how hard it could be that might work
Marcus Noble
@AverageMarcus
Jun 05 2015 13:20

Another idea for Wednesday is to have a group discussion around open data/linked data, but that might be hard to poke along – at UXOxford there wasn't a load of engagement

@spikeheap can I borrow them books from you tomorrow?

Pretty short notice but something for future events: get a bunch of people and have a panel?

Would be good to get together people in different roles and ask about the difference in their work

@AverageMarcus well played, sir...was just about to inadvisably change my user name on git. They showed me a bunch of warnings, as if anyhing that we do on the internet could ever go wrong
