Ah ok! Just wanted to check. When's the new venue?
Ryan Brooks
@spikeheap
Oct 12 2015 10:44
November (once I book it today)
should be easier for everyone travelling up on the train :)
and it looks like a great venue for talks
Marcus Noble
@AverageMarcus
Oct 12 2015 10:47
Yeah! I'm looking forward to it

Would people be up for a Christmas/Winter themed hackday?
Ryan Brooks
@spikeheap
Oct 12 2015 10:50
Winter => YES
Christmas => meh
I love the idea of Christmas events – hacking around mulled wine/mince pies/drizzle could be awesome
everyone tends to be busy in December though, so the turnout’s likely to be pretty low

I put Christmas as I thought it might be fun to hack around with Christmas lights or something
Ryan Brooks
@spikeheap
Oct 12 2015 10:51
Yeah
Marcus Noble
@AverageMarcus
Oct 12 2015 10:51
Yeah. I'd expect it to be pretty small.
Ryan Brooks
@spikeheap
Oct 12 2015 10:51
Espruino-powered lights could be pretty cool
Marcus Noble
@AverageMarcus
Oct 12 2015 10:51
Yeah!
Web-controlled christmas tree?
Ryan Brooks
@spikeheap
Oct 12 2015 10:52
with present-tampering alarm
Marcus Noble
@AverageMarcus
Oct 12 2015 10:52
yes!

There's a potential space for something JSOxHacky at Render conf - it slightly depends on money and time, but we were talking about balloons with LEDs in them that you could control remotely (kind of like a bigger scale christmas tree lights thing)
Ryan Brooks
@spikeheap
Oct 12 2015 11:15
hang on…. JS-powered micro hot-air balloons with a distributed light control mechanism so as they float upwards the standard horse is displayed across them all as a single image?
Ben Foxall
@benfoxall
Oct 12 2015 11:15
But yeah, hack days; as @spikeheap said; December is usually pretty rubbish for hack days/meetups; January would be cooler
Ryan Brooks
@spikeheap
Oct 12 2015 11:15
Ben’s right on January being cooler, both literally and metaphorically
Marcus Noble
@AverageMarcus
Oct 12 2015 11:44
@benfoxall are you saying hacking at Render or for Render?
Marcus Noble
@AverageMarcus
Oct 12 2015 11:52
Are we going to stream this weeks meetup? (As we have a waitlist)
Ryan Brooks
@spikeheap
Oct 12 2015 11:53
It would be cool to get on the streaming again :+1:
Last time we upped the limit to let them in anyway :)
Marcus Noble

Oct 12 2015 11:54
And on the awesome JS Oxford YouTube Channel

Oh wait... you're a manager of the channel
Hmmm... I wonder if we could persuade @benfoxall to do a "Using Emoji in JavaScript" talk at Render Conf?
An hour long session of @benfoxall coding awesome JS magic using nothing but Emoji
Ryan Brooks
@spikeheap
Oct 12 2015 12:04
We could live caption his talk entirely using emoji
Marcus Noble
@AverageMarcus
Oct 12 2015 12:04
:+1:
Is there an "Oh yeah, yeah yeah yeah!" emoji?
