Yuvi Panda
@yuvipanda
nbviewer helm chart!
Min RK
@minrk
Right, that's the long-term fix. But any VM with docker will work right now with no work.
Matthias Bussonnier
@Carreau
IIUC the scripts do not use memcache.
Min RK
@minrk
yes they do
Yuvi Panda
@yuvipanda
what happened to rackspace?
are they like, completely out?
Matthias Bussonnier
@Carreau
Also it's evening there, so flaky connections.
Even have issues reaching google
Carolyn left, they suspended our account.
Min RK
@minrk
Weird account issues because our latest contact there is gone.
I've been bugging them for 18 hours now.
@Carreau btw, I specifically mean https://github.com/jupyter/nbviewer-deploy , not the main nbviewer repo
Yuvi Panda
@yuvipanda
woah...
Matthias Bussonnier
@Carreau
AH I forgot about that on e
Yuvi Panda
@yuvipanda
I've to go to a doc in a few hours, and have an MOOC related deadline tomorrow. but let me know how I can help?
Min RK
@minrk
invoke bootstrap -n 2 launches 2x nbviewer + memcache
@yuvipanda thanks, don't worry about it.
Matthias Bussonnier
@Carreau
Ok, i'll do that on a VM and add you both as admin on this project.
Yuvi Panda
@yuvipanda
@Carreau all VMs launched have a public IP by default. you can manage firewalls and also 'reserve' the IP from the console.
Matthias Bussonnier
@Carreau
Just in case.
Min RK
@minrk
cool, thanks
Yuvi Panda
@yuvipanda
VPC Network -> External IP Address
Matthias Bussonnier
@Carreau
which types of machines ?
standard-2 ? high-mem ?
Yuvi Panda
@yuvipanda
do you remember the config on rackspace?
or if it takes a lot of CPU for this stuff?
if it doesn't I'd recommend highmem
Min RK
@minrk
We're running on 2 CPU with 2G
doesn't take much to run nbviewer
I guess it's an opportunity to finally write that nbviewer helm chart I've been meaning to!
Yuvi Panda
@yuvipanda
:D
Min RK
@minrk
@Carreau let me know if you get it started. I can update fastly to point to it.
Matthias Bussonnier
@Carreau
Ok, fight to get docker on debian right now.
I might just kill it and try on ubintu.
Yuvi Panda
@yuvipanda
yes, I've generally decided to 'screw Debian' :)
Matthias Bussonnier
@Carreau
Ok, makes my choice easier.
Matthias Bussonnier
@Carreau
... hum running but can't access it 35.185.37.12
(static ip)
Min RK
@minrk
might need to specifically expose the port
Yuvi Panda
@yuvipanda
plus firewalls
Matthias Bussonnier
@Carreau
thanks, thats what I was looking for in options.
Min RK
@minrk
ok, nbviewer's back up: http://nbviewer.jupyter.org
Matthias Bussonnier
@Carreau
rackspace ?
Or mine ?
Min RK
@minrk
No, yours
Matthias Bussonnier
@Carreau
Cool !
Min RK
@minrk
I pointed fastly at it (DNS doesn't need updating, it just points at fastly, which load-balances across healthy backends)
so when rackspace comes back, it should start getting traffic automatically
Matthias Bussonnier
@Carreau
So fastly balance across ports ?
