Yuvi Panda
@yuvipanda
or if it takes a lot of CPU for this stuff?
if it doesn't I'd recommend highmem
Min RK
@minrk
We're running on 2 CPU with 2G
doesn't take much to run nbviewer
I guess it's an opportunity to finally write that nbviewer helm chart I've been meaning to!
Yuvi Panda
@yuvipanda
:D
Min RK
@minrk
@Carreau let me know if you get it started. I can update fastly to point to it.
Matthias Bussonnier
@Carreau
Ok, fight to get docker on debian right now.
I might just kill it and try on ubintu.
Yuvi Panda
@yuvipanda
yes, I've generally decided to 'screw Debian' :)
Matthias Bussonnier
@Carreau
Ok, makes my choice easier.
Matthias Bussonnier
@Carreau
... hum running but can't access it 35.185.37.12
(static ip)
Min RK
@minrk
might need to specifically expose the port
Yuvi Panda
@yuvipanda
plus firewalls
Matthias Bussonnier
@Carreau
thanks, thats what I was looking for in options.
Min RK
@minrk
ok, nbviewer's back up: http://nbviewer.jupyter.org
Matthias Bussonnier
@Carreau
rackspace ?
Or mine ?
Min RK
@minrk
No, yours
Matthias Bussonnier
@Carreau
Cool !
Min RK
@minrk
I pointed fastly at it (DNS doesn't need updating, it just points at fastly, which load-balances across healthy backends)
so when rackspace comes back, it should start getting traffic automatically
Matthias Bussonnier
@Carreau
So fastly balance across ports ?
Min RK
@minrk
yeah
Matthias Bussonnier
@Carreau
ah sweet !
Yuvi Panda
@yuvipanda
@Carreau awesome
@Carreau @minrk can one of you enable stackdriver so we get some minimal logs and cpu/memory metrics? clicking 'monitoring' on the console should get you started. it's free
Matthias Bussonnier
@Carreau
On it !
Min RK
@minrk
Nice. I also launched the statuspage container (which was previously run on a different machine), but should start updating the status.jupyter.org state for nbviewer soon.
Matthias Bussonnier
@Carreau
I'll update the blog post, and publish it (if no objections) as nbviewer was IMHO the more pressing issue, and say that tmpnb and other will take longer to come up.
Min RK
@minrk
Agree 100%
Yuvi Panda
@yuvipanda
do you think we should just redirect tmpnb to mybinder.org with a well known repo?
maybe not now, because of UI differences. eventually
Min RK
@minrk
not tmpnb, but maybe try.jupyter
I'm not sure what the best example is.
Yuvi Panda
@yuvipanda
probably one of the docker stacks images
with everything on it
Min RK
@minrk
Yeah. Needs content, too, though.
right
so a fork I guess
Min RK
@minrk
Oh, ha. We could use the jupyter/demo image. Which is what we used for tmpnb.
It's huge
Matthias Bussonnier
@Carreau
that's called "Load testing".
Min RK
@minrk
launch is going to be slow
Yuvi Panda
@yuvipanda
we need to work on image-preloading
both for binder and jhub
Matthias Bussonnier
@Carreau
