Hey! I am glad you like it! I started this about 1.5 years ago. Recently I did not have much time working on it. I would love to see some progress! Contributions of any kind are very welcome!

Hey! I just found your project on GitHub. It's really great! I'll make some new toolbar icons in the next few days.
Laszlo Korte
@laszlokorte
@JohJakob Hey! Welcome to our little community :)
That would be super awesome!

What do you think? Should we use the black toolbar icons (like in Safari and Mail) or should we use colorful icons (without a white button like in the iWork apps)?
Laszlo Korte
@laszlokorte
You have seen the current icons, right? I have colored them in groups so that all the tools for creating a form have one color, tools for modifying have another color etc... I like that concept but I am open to new ideas

@JohJakob
Hmm, the build fails in Xcode 7 and Xcode 8 Beta 1. Is there anything, I have to do before building?
Laszlo Korte
@laszlokorte
I have updated it for for beta2 yesterday
Commit b428154793b64bad should just work for Xcode 8 beta 1
Johannes Jakob
@JohJakob
OK, I'm installing Xcode 8 Beta 2 right now.

@laszlokorte
did you get it working?
Johannes Jakob
@JohJakob
Extracting Xcode 8 Beta 2 from its XIP file fails with this error: Block-compressed payload operation failed.
Laszlo Korte
@laszlokorte
hm strange
Johannes Jakob
@JohJakob
Maybe, I have not enough space on my hard drive…
Laszlo Korte
@laszlokorte
But as I said b42815479 works with xcode beta 1 (it's just one commit back from current master)
Johannes Jakob
@JohJakob
Yeah, 3 GB left.
I'll just delete Xcode 8 Beta 1 and install it afterwards.
Wow, Xcode 8 Beta 1 is about 12.2 GB large.
Laszlo Korte
@laszlokorte
wow
Johannes Jakob
@JohJakob
Nah, it's 12.62 GB :D
Laszlo Korte
@laszlokorte
always having space trouble with my 128 ssd I just upgraded to 500gb a few weeks ago. That was a relief^^
Johannes Jakob
@JohJakob
Let's get rid of that shit :grin:
My MacBook has a 250 GB SSD and a 500 GB HD. Both are almost full.

@JohJakob
This extraction process takes soooooooooo looooooooong.

Option 1 or option 2? I'd prefer option 2, but we'd have to change the toolbar icons from Image Views to Buttons, right?
…but they'd be black and white only. Apple uses something different in the iWork apps to create colorful icons with a white bezel.
Laszlo Korte
@laszlokorte
yeah I think 2 is more consistent with other apps
(finder, iworks...)
did you get xcode working/the app compiling?
Johannes Jakob
@JohJakob
@laszlokorte Yep, everything's working now.

Reform Toolbar Icons.png
Here's a sneak peak on some of the new icons.
I want to use the white buttons, but with colorful icons like in the iWork apps. Normally, the white buttons only have gray icons, so I created the white button as part of the icons.
@laszlokorte One question: In the current app, when a tool is selected, the background behind the icon gets a bit darker. Can we disable that and use a custom icon for the selected tool instead?
Johannes Jakob
@JohJakob
@laszlokorte It'll increase the size of the app, but not much.
Laszlo Korte
@laszlokorte
@JohJakob wow looks great!
Laszlo Korte
@laszlokorte
I might be possible to just use regular NSButtons and put the image into them without the image being just being grey
Johannes Jakob
@JohJakob
@laszlokorte Thanks! Yeah, that would be awesome.
Johannes Jakob
@JohJakob
@laszlokorte The toolbar icons are almost finished.
Laszlo Korte
@laszlokorte
cool :+1:
Johannes Jakob
@JohJakob
@laszlokorte Can you explain me some basic Cocoa drawing things? I figured out that I can draw things with the drawRect function.
…but how do I draw freehand with the mouse?
Laszlo Korte
@laszlokorte
Not sure I understand your question. Are you talking about the CGGraphics API?
Johannes Jakob
@JohJakob
@laszlokorte I think so… the stuff with NSGraphicsContext and CGContext. I don't know much about it.
