Had a total blank in dojo last night..forgot how to return a value from a vector based not on it's index but on it's value.
Couldn't think of (some #{"value"} my-vector)

morning
really good fun yesterday
@postspectacular yes we had a look at Clara, but Marius(?) was in the zone and typed out that code. I need to spend some time today and see if I can actually under stand it.

@martintrojer isn't the upshot of that: "know what you are doing. docker isn't a silver bullet. TANSTAAFL?"

doing an apt-get update in your Dockerfile is not enough, you also have to do a build —no-cache (and possible pull latest of your dependencies)
then redeploy everything
weekly (perhaps daily)

how is that different from running any boxen though (thus the TANSTAAFL)

Sometimes you see peeps say 'now with docker devs look after the app environment'
and they may not have the same sensitivity as someone who has done ops for longer
Answer is probs smaller OSes for within containers
redhat is better at not including the world when you install a package but there is deffo better ways
in short bruce, its not that different
however a VM requires more OS than a container so less OS is the way containers need to head
What we as Clojure peeps prob want is a JVM unikernel
http://osv.io/ is maybe heading there

but reducing the number of moving (and update requiring parts) is part of good ops practice. I'm not sure moving to teh devops means that we stop doing ops so much as we automate the good bits of ops as much as possible, or have I completely misunderstood everything.

Agree. The trouble as I see it is that tooling is getting better, so people with less specialised skills can "do devops" - and then get bitten by security or scalability stuff they don't understand.
(or don't have budget to do - though that's a false economy)

so I’ve created a #ldnclj room on clojurians #slack (just sayin)

@otfrom we should decide on one of irc/gitter/slack and put "we moved here" notices on the losers... 3 channels with overlapping but different memberships and presences is gonna be a right pita
@otfrom does your position as hugmaster general come with right of fiat ?

596 members in the #clojure room on slack now. Makes sense to have the main #ldnclj room there.

We use slack at work a fair bit - generally love it, though their commercial model is wildly expensive for a business of our size so we only have the free version

I kind of like identifying via github - feels more dev-like. But happy to go with the flow... Has anyone done a side by side comparison?

i kinda think that slack makes more sense for a channel like #ldnclj while gitter makes more sense for a room like #clojure-emacs/cider
although you can argue that it makes more sense to map all your channels to github projects and/or organisations ;)

@benedekfazekas where is ldnclj slack?
@benedekfazekas ignore me
Agree better to be in Slack alongside the other clj stuff
