    Jorge says they're "officially testing" Gitter. I think it's the 10,000 message limit that's the issue.

    Didn't realize slack had a limit

    I like the support of markdown in the chat
    Rich Sezov
    @sez11a
    Yeah, it's quite nice

    Yeah; Markdown support is really nice

    Okay; I just added the badge to our README file.
    This is how good the Gitter integration with Github is: liferay/liferay-docs#130

    @codyhoag
    nice!

    These gitter rooms are public, correct?
    Just confirmed by navigating here with Chrome, where I'm not signed in. So just keep that in mind.
    Rich Sezov
    @sez11a
    You should've gotten signed in automatically through GitHub.
    Russell Bohl
    @rbohl
    Yeah, what I'm saying though, is that the conversation can be viewed by anyone, even when not loggedin to github. I couldn't post when not loggedin, but I could see the whole converasation. Conversely, trying to navigate to the liferayeng part of slack without being loggedin did not work. These are public chat rooms in gitter.
    Rich Sezov
    @sez11a
    Yeah; that's because it's tied to an open repository (liferay-docs).
    Other rooms would be private
    Try this in a not-logged-in browser: https://gitter.im/liferay
    Russell Bohl
    @rbohl

    "You've tried to access liferay's private organization room and you do not belong to this organization.

    But you can still chat by simply selecting one of the public rooms below."

    [link to the liferay-docs room]

    Because Liferay is an organization, we have a private room, I think.
    this is a repo-room, which inherits its permissions from the repo
    Rich Sezov
    @sez11a
    If I added integration to the liferay-training-ee repo, it would be the same, because that repo is private.
    It inherits from the repo. If you can access the repo, you can access the chat.
    Russell Bohl
    @rbohl
    I just thought it was good to make that clear here, in case anyone thought it was a private chat room, ala Slack.
    Rich Sezov
    @sez11a
    Yes; thank you. In fact, I let people know in the Liferay organization room because you notified me here.
    Russell Bohl
    @rbohl
    Nice. I'm glad my wet blanket attitude towards chat tools yielded some benefit.

    hello @all
    i need a tutorial for liferay dxp portlet
    Russell Bohl
    @rbohl
    Hi, have you looked at the docs in the customer portal? https://customer.liferay.com/documentation/7.0/develop/tutorials
    There's a section there devoted to migrating your older plugins which has some portlet information, and a section devoted to developing portlets inDXP. If you don't find what you're looking for there, let us know what we're missing!
    There's still a lot of developer docs to be written, so let us know if there's an urgent need that's not covered already.

    Hi,

    I am trying to customise the control_menu in liferay 7 . I have created a theme contributor for the same but always all 3 menu are shown "product menu","control menu" and "simulation menu" . I want to remove simulation Menu completely . Could anyone help me in achieving this ?.

    Cody Hoag
    @codyhoag
    @abdulsmrehman you could disable that functionality from Portal without messing with any themes.
    You could do this via the Gogo Shell
    Find the related modules: lb | grep Simulation
    441|Active | 10|Liferay Product Navigation Simulation (2.0.1)
    442|Active | 10|Liferay Product Navigation Simulation Device (2.0.3)
    443|Active | 10|Liferay Product Navigation Simulation Theme Contributor (2.0.2)
    444|Active | 10|Liferay Product Navigation Simulation Web (2.1.0)
    then stop them. e.g., stop 441
    Doing this disables the modules contributing that functionality
    Adding them back is just as easy: start 441

    For any additional questions you may have, I'd recommend posting on Liferay's Forums (https://web.liferay.com/community/forums) or Community Slack channel (https://liferay-community.slack.com). Those are monitored more by Liferay experts/employees than this channel. :smile:

    @abdulsmrehman
    Thanks @codyhoag (y) . with your above suggestion i was able to remove the simulation menu. But, I was actually looking for a way to stop/remove the simulation menu on deploying the custom theme contributor pro-grammatically rather than logging into Gogo shell . Is their any possibility ?
    Cody Hoag
    @codyhoag
    @abdulsmrehman you can take a look at the following forum post. This gives an example theme that hides the product menu and control menu. You could probably do something similar to hide the simulation menu that way. If you have any further questions, can you post it in Liferay Forums? Your question would be searchable from there and would help others. I've exhausted my limited theming knowledge. :wink:

    Thanks in Advance..

    @rbohl
    @abdulsmrehman If you haven't yet, I recommend hitting https://community.liferay.com/ and clicking the Chat link. From there you can sign up for our community slack channel. You'll get more eyes on your question over there. Explain briefly the problem and link to the forum post, probably in the #portal channel. It's possible someone here might know the answer, but much more likely over there, because all the people that see your post here will also see it there (I think) and many more as well.

    I want to connect from liferay to implemented oauth server used for SSO login should i use the OAUTH implemented on Liferay ?
    Cody Hoag
    @codyhoag
    @MohamedShawky85 see Russell's previous post. You should ask all questions in Liferay's Forums or Slack channel. These threads are old and very few people are following them currently. I don't know the answer to your question, but someone in our Community Slack channel probably does. Thanks.
