@ricochet1k
The library should be the same there, but the code is pretty easy to read. Is it actually accessing the filesystem? There could be issues with a case-sensitive filesystem.
Francisco Manno
@fmanno
both Linux and OS X are case-sensitive
yes, I've been reading the documentation and apparently GO knows how to change depending on the OS so I think it's not likely the issue is there. I just thought it would be good to ask if anyone was aware of some "quirks" or gotchas with the library
Suraj Patil
@thewhitetulip
There aren't any quirks for libraries, the library author has to write platform specific version of the library, should the library require platform specific features. Usually that's done by appending the os arch like os.go, os_linux.go or os_darwin.go
Matt Peterson
@ricochet1k
There are some library quirks. Guess what filepath.Join("C:", "Program Files") does on Windows?
Suraj Patil
@thewhitetulip
Well, I meant to say that it works out of the box across all platforms and the library writers have tsken that care. Not really getting at what problems you guys are facing.
@ricochet1k i am sorry i didn't recognize it is you that I was talking :P Gitter isnt showing ne the screen names :D
People over at HN were thinking lime is dead & I hadn't heard from either you or @zoli Or @erbridge since over a month. So whats up?
Matt Peterson
@ricochet1k
Just not a lot of time to work on Lime.
Suraj Patil
@thewhitetulip
Yep, same here. I have started studying machine learning + for two weeks I finished my Go book. I have a novel pensing since two years too :D
*pending
Francisco Manno
@fmanno
I don't have much time either and as starting to learn GO I think tests are a good place. The issue is the watcher_test.go from packages fails on OS X but passes on Linux (Ubuntu to be precise) so I thought it may be due to differences in path handling. However now I think the issue may be with the File callbacks. Need to keep digging
Once all the tests are passing, do we have some sort of CI going on?
Matt Peterson
@ricochet1k
Not yet. I was thinking about building one.
Matt Peterson
@ricochet1k
sigh I don't have a lot of time to devote to Lime, but I still hate the current state of all the editors. :(
Francisco Manno
@fmanno
Same here, but we'll get there :+1:
Suraj Patil
@thewhitetulip
Yes, we will!
Francisco Manno
@fmanno
there's definitely something fishy with the file creation. I never get the callback in OS X, that's why the test is failing
Francisco Manno
@fmanno
Sorry if it's a dumb question, but I've been reading the docs for the rjeczalik/notify package trying to make sense of the missing callbacks in OS X Darwin. Does anyone know how can I tell wether the eventswe should be getting are Kevents, FSEvents (InotifyEvent seems to be only for linux) or can point me to some more info on the web? Forgive me if this is "obvious" by looking at the code I'm new to GO and fairly new to "high level" apps
Suraj Patil
@thewhitetulip
I'm sorry, I don't know the answer
Derick Alangi
@xSavitar
Hello everyone
I have been on Go for a while and wanted to contribute to a real world project
I stumbled on the limeText project and wish to contribute
Hope I am welcomed to do so :)
Matt Peterson
@ricochet1k
Please do
sunbx
@sunbenxin
i build lime-qml on fedora 24, and succeeded. But failed to run by "panic: runtime error: cgo result has Go pointer"
sunbx
@sunbenxin
got it #541
Francisco Manno
@fmanno
HI. I raised a pull request to fix the data races in the packages tests. But then I realized I didn't create an issue for it. Should I?
Matt Peterson
@ricochet1k
Nah
Francisco Manno
@fmanno
Ok I'll create another one in the hopes of fixing the remaining issue of the failing TestWatchDir test in the packages. But I'd like to do it after this one is solved and then we should see the builds in Travis passing. Hopefully
I think I've found a way to solve it. But needs reviewing
Steven Roose
@stevenroose
did this project die?
Matt Peterson
@ricochet1k
No, we just are busy. I'm actually planning on putting some work into LimeText in the next few weeks.
Matt Peterson
@ricochet1k
So the gopy implementation works fine as it is, and although it could use a bit more work, I'm tired of messing with it. Should we just merge the PR?
Felix Laurie von Massenbach
@erbridge
I think so
looks good to me
Matt Peterson
@ricochet1k
Travis is unhappy :(
Felix Laurie von Massenbach
@erbridge
that makes a change
Matt Peterson
@ricochet1k
Hrm. Python 3.5 isn't available on the Mac build?
There is probably a brew command to install it
Also, what is with Bountysource screwing up all the issues?
Felix Laurie von Massenbach
@erbridge
screwing up how?
Matt Peterson
@ricochet1k
Look here for example: limetext/lime-qml#47
But many, if not most of the issues have broken formatting
Felix Laurie von Massenbach
@erbridge
Hrmmm
I'm inclined to just drop Bountysource, since it doesn't seem to work as an incentive :)
Matt Peterson
@ricochet1k
I think it works great. It's just not enough money :P
Felix Laurie von Massenbach
@erbridge
:)
Matt Peterson
@ricochet1k
I mean, for some of the issues it's less than $1 an hour of work
Felix Laurie von Massenbach
@erbridge
Yeah
