Tim Berners-Lee
@timbl
I suppose.
Andrei
@deiu
Those two kind of go together really
Tim Berners-Lee
@timbl
I must say that I much prefer my contacts ontology because it allows you to have one or more homes, works, etc and for each one to have .phone, email, address, etc
With vcard you can’t connect the work address with the work phone
Andrei
@deiu
which ontology is that?
Tim Berners-Lee
@timbl
contact = $rdf.Namespace('http://www.w3.org/2000/10/swap/pim/contact#');
What - 404?
No.
Andrei
@deiu
it works here
Ok..it seems like we need decide which ontology we should use, before we start telling people about it
Tim Berners-Lee
@timbl
(Weird — Firefox/tabulator gives 404 - must be going though aproxy or something — ignore that)
My assumption was we should use the VCARD one because it is at least a Note and can round trip with VCard.
and vcard is the massive standard.
Andrei
@deiu
I think we’re fine as long as we can map to/from vcard
Though being interoperable is also important
Tim Berners-Lee
@timbl
Theere probably is noone else out there editing their stuff live in RDF
in vcard
Andrei
@deiu
So then what’s your intuition? Try to stick to vcard ontology hoping for future interop?
Tim Berners-Lee
@timbl
We could also do a version of the mapping with tweaks, mainly for the classes http://www.w3.org/TR/vcard-rdf/#Code_Sets
We could adopt them all as properties except telephone type which I think really is a type
“related type” should be a predictae
I guess Gender is OK as a type
Its mainly Home/Work and relationship type
We could I suupose also suggest a rework of the ontology
But they finished last year!
Andrei
@deiu
Yes, I doubt they would continue the work
Tim Berners-Lee
@timbl
ben is thre
Andrei
@deiu
Ok
done
Tim Berners-Lee
@timbl
he has the lights?
Andrei
@deiu
Yes, he’s on his way out
Tim Berners-Lee
@timbl
Great — thank you so much
Andrei
@deiu
No problem at all
Tim Berners-Lee
@timbl
Suppose we use the vcard note exactly except we make a new nameapce for properties Acquaintance
Agent
Child
Colleague
Contact
Coresident
Coworker
Crush
Date
Emergency
Friend
Kin
Me
Met
Muse
Neighbor
Parent
Sibling
Spouse
Sweetheart
Andrei
@deiu
Ok
Tim Berners-Lee
@timbl
because as types they really lead to mis-inference
but we deal with the other things being types because it isn’t so disasterous
and you can say that “that address is a work address” — though I would prefer a system where one person can work at aonther person’s home
logically
.
There may be another larger ontology of relationship types of course
maybe schema.org
Andrei
@deiu
Ok, I’ll start with that
Priority-wise, I’m not sure when I’ll get around to implement it though.
On-boarding is my top priority these days, now that we have a stable ldnode version
Tim Berners-Lee
@timbl
Absoluetley — onboardig is top prio
The ldnode is great. The 401 page is a part of onboarding too of ocurse
Andrei
@deiu
Yes, I’m really happy with the progress we’re making on ldnode
Tim Berners-Lee
@timbl
Ok thanks for the chat …. well ldone coordinating everything, lots of stuff happening.
Andrei
@deiu
Thank you for taking time to chat about it, it helps a lot
