I do git fetch, git checkout etc when webhook events arive
(so i am not polling each repo)

of course. But then I wouldn't be so difficult to fetch from an outside git server.
I think this could be very useful

I do not prefer self hosted. I just see it as an option for having our inhouse documentation private
