That one has been popping up in this version of the node on RInkeby. We’re debugging the gas estimator, but in the meantime if you start the node with the extra flag —gasLimit 4000000 it should fix things.

I followed erics advice for the too many files open msg https://forum.livepeer.org/t/increase-file-limit-as-a-transcoder/170 but i still get them after the reboot
should they completely vanish?

@rayj00
I tries to deposit 10,000 eth. Got this: I0315 16:39:33.322868 890 webserver.go:520] Depositing: 10000

@ericxtang
@f1l1b0x hmm… they should vanish… are the file limits actually increased? you can check by running ulimit -a.
If they ARE increased, you could try to set a larger limit…

@ericxtang nah it isnt :(
open files (-n) 1024
must have done something wrong
Eric Tang
@ericxtang
You have to do both of the steps listed in the post
rayj00
@rayj00
@f1l1b0x were do you check the gas in the cli?
f1l1b0x
@f1l1b0x
the eth and ltp balance if you check your node status with 1
sometimes it says unknown there and indicates it bugged out if it was there before
rayj00
@rayj00
Yea I have eth but from another post I read that LPT is not actually needed for broadcasting? True or False?
f1l1b0x
@f1l1b0x
@ericxtang yes both are in the files:
  • hard nofile 4096
  • soft nofile 40960
    in /etc/security/limits.conf
    and
    session required pam_limits.so
    in /etc/pam.d/common-session
rayj00
@rayj00
Interesting scenario. My .lpData has four addresses in it. My last livepeer execute grabbed the oldest adr? I rebooted the node and this livepeer execute grabbed the first address which is the newest? Weird!

does anyone have a suggestion for which AWS instance is not too much and not too little for transcoding?
Eric Tang
@ericxtang
Hmm that should be all you need. Maybe reboot the box again? Are you using AWS?
f1l1b0x
@f1l1b0x
no I use bare metal
f1l1b0x
@f1l1b0x
@scott-lew-is benchmarks would be great I agree

Maybe the transcoder?
rayj00
@rayj00
No. From the explorer, it looks like I am not using a transcoder.

• Configure your CDN to cache video content running at http://hostname:8935/stream/
{streamID}.m3u8
whenever i check that m3u8 it only contains 1 bitrate
i havent yet seen a abr encoding of it and wouldnt need the cdn link to ipfs where the encoded chunks end up?
I checked the documentation but I cant really find it described anywhere
so I basically have the two questions:
  1. where can I check if my stream is getting transcoded
  2. what is the link to the hls master playlist containing the abr set?
sorry if this is the most obvious thing ever and I just dont see it
:)

oh and the open file limit fix made my transcoder accepting jobs now

Nice! How did you fix the open file issue?
f1l1b0x
@f1l1b0x
The option with wildcard *didn’t work for me , because I used root to run lp and the wildcard option doesn’t affect the superuser.

Hi Do you have an MVP?
Chris Hobcroft
@chrishobcroft
I would say that we might have quite a lot of MVPs here.
Josh Allmann
@j0sh
Hahaha :)
@drcetiner_twitter supposing you mean 'minimum viable product' , then yes, we have the Livepeer network running on Rinkeby, see https://github.com/livepeer/go-livepeer
Although the 'Getting Started' guide might be a better place to start: http://livepeer.readthedocs.io/en/latest/getting_started.html

hehe, I think neither
OK, I will run it again... @ericxtang is on www.livepeer.tv now

@chrishobcroft
I am currently launching an attack on the record for the longest stream in Livepeer.
I believe that the record stands at 5hr 31mins by Chris Hobcroft, although this is unconfirmed.
