Weird...

@ericxtang
transactions cost gas, so the balance will go down as you are interacting with the blockchain

I'm pumped!
Seen the same issue I seen yesterday......first attempt to broadcast froze after 10 sec or so. 2nd attempt going strong.
Getting dark out...

@rayj00
I have 8Gb of ram allocated to the host. It's free memory is showing 4.9G but the Container free -h is showing 7.2G free? That's weird.
Well, I accomplished what I set out to do. Broadcast from an LXD container. Tomorrow I try two containers!
Good night all!

Is there any good tutorial for how to setup Livepeer on a VPS server to test RTMP stream similar to the link above?
Does the Livepeer provide any WebRTC load balancing between peers in the Chrome browser?
Chris Hobcroft
@chrishobcroft
Hi @AMARAKA_twitter I think @rayj00 does some stuff with VPS.
No p2p cdn functionality in livepeer today but it is coming
rayj00
@rayj00
@AMARAKA_twitter Hello. There is really not much you need to do get a VPS up and running Livepeer. What I do is install Ubuntu 16.04.4 server, update && upgrade. Then get the latest Livepeer executable from https://github.com/livepeer/go-livepeer/releases Untar the file, change directory to livepeer_linux and run the following command: ../livepeer -rinkeby -v 6
rayj00
@rayj00
@AMARAKA_twitter Forgot one little thing. Before you broadcast, you need to get you some ether. Use twitter and send a tweet with yout Eth address in the body of the tweet,
then Go to https://faucet.rinkeby.io/ and insert the tweet url you just did and choose 18.75 ethers. Let me know when you have completed these steps.
@AMARAKA_twitter You can also start here: http://livepeer.readthedocs.io/en/latest/
rayj00
@rayj00
@AMARAKA_twitter Livepeer does not support native WebRTC at this time. However you can always use OBS to broadcast a webrtc stream, into the livepeer network. I'm not sure about load balancing? I think Livepeer does load balancing by default, @ericxtang ?

@ericxtang I want to implement a reactive blockchain client that is based on a live streaming API as most of them use JSON-RPC which is often a push/pull one.
I came to know that livepeer uses a livestreaming API on blockchains so I want to see the implementation . Can you help me? @ericxtang

For anyone interested, WebRTC Live Q&A Session and talk about moving away from SDP! Today at 11:00AM https://www.crowdcast.io/e/webrtcstandards23/register

Moving away from SDP in WebRTC? It's about time
@naveen-nrj You mean "live streaming" as in video streaming, right? Or "event streaming" in the FRP/reactive sense? In any case, if you want to look at the actual implementation of the blockchain parts, our protocol and client repos are the places to check. https://github.com/livepeer/protocol and https://github.com/livepeer/go-livepeer -- although maybe read the whitepaper first for some background on how it all fits together https://github.com/livepeer/wiki/blob/master/WHITEPAPER.md

I want event streaming and thanks for the links . Cheers

@j0sh
:+1: We're focused on video here. For what it's worth, you can monitor the blockchain for events. The go-livepeer code integrates with geth and the event log for that, so might be a helpful reference to learn from.

hi where is the ico ?
@j0sh where is the ico date ?

We don't have any plans to do an ICO right now

Gnosis is currently giving an interesting talk on livepeer.tv from the local Ethereum Meetup on their dutch auction exchange mechanism. http://livepeer.tv

And this is late notice, but we’re going to have an open community call tomorrow, with the main agenda item being a presentation and discussion around the long term Livepeer plan. How Livepeer goes from protocol -> infrastructure -> platform -> embedded in the entire video ecosystem. All are welcome to participate or watch on livepeer tv: livepeer/project-management#36
rayj00
@rayj00
@dob Has the project management call been recorded? And how can I access it?
Doug Petkanics
@dob
Good question for @chrishobcroft who streamed it, but have to check to see if it was recorded.
Opsss. Hold on.
rayj00
@rayj00
This video in live on Facebook. Do you hear audio?
I screwed up the resolution somehow with OBS, but I am interested in knowing if Facebook --> Livepeer includes the audio?
toocoolamit
@toocoolamit

Stream working fine with https://media.livepeer.org/player.html

But not working at

@toocoolamit just replied. Not the world’s most helpful answer…it’s most likely a networking issue on our end…you seem to be doing everything right on yours.

Big announcement: With Livepeer’s upcoming launch Livepeer community chat will be moving to Discord, which allows for better moderation and a wider community of participants. You can join the Discord here:

Folks will continue to stick around and be in and out of Gitter for sure, especially on the development side, but for fastest responses, check out the Discord!

geth light client does not start syncing. Does anybody expierence the same problems?
Gernot Pokorny
@gernotpokorny
Is it not possible to send a tx in geth without defining an account?
Josh Allmann
@j0sh
Not sure what you mean. Don't you at least need an account with sufficient eth to cover the tx gas fees? BTW most of Livepeer's discussion is happening on Discord right now: https://discord.gg/7wRSUGX

@gernotpokorny
Why do I need to store data about my account in geth?
I just want to sign a tx and not encrypt my account and store it
