Have a look at the next JTSVersion congrats to vivid, dr-jts and the participants at the #LocationTech sprint https://github.com/dr-jts/jts/blob/master/modules/core/src/main/java/org/locationtech/jts/JTSVersion.java

@lossyrob argh, forgot that the SnapRoundingOverlay functions are in the lab, which is not in git.
they depend on some modified code which would also need to migrate into master
so def. worth an issue!

@dr-jts one idea is to take all the stuff that’s in jtslabs and create feature branches with the code in sort-of the right places that they would end up in jts core. Then we could create tickets off those features, and if people wanted to pick up on them they could start working off the feature branch, in their own fork. We could merge work in to the feature branches, and/or eventually make a PR into JTS core with the completed feature.

seems like there’s a set of features in labs:

  • snap rounding
  • variable buffer
  • concave hull
  • polygon hole removing
  • geometry editing (operation application on immutable geometries)

that’s it right?

@lossyrob makes sense about the feature branches, at least for things that impact existing core code. Although I have found it simple to have everything in one place - but I guess that’s the luxury of lone development.

The list of features is about right. I think the geometry editing is only used for the snap rounding functions

@dr-jts @lossyrob @jodygarnett I suggested to Bjorn that we ought to wait until the LT move has happened to merge his PRs
hopefully he is fine with the LT CLA etc

If he has a CLA I don’t htink it’ll be a big deal to merge it before, if that’s what we want to do. I’m just a little confused on the change/why it’s necessary/what it means moving forward (I asked on the PR)

got a question about CSVOutputFormat
basically, it's bringing geoserver to its knees
when it has to deal with too many features
Jody Garnett

Not sure I know that one ... like the code.

Jan 28 2016 19:44
do you know if it streams out or if it gathers things up into an attachment
ah, ok
i dug into the code a bit
Jody Garnett

Jan 28 2016 19:45
Does it do something stupid like load things into memory?
For the CSV datastore we use a streaming API.
We would have to look, suffice to say we have a streaming API on hand if you needed it.

well, i have a geomesa data store which i'm accessing over WFS using csv format

seems like it doesn't load things into memory
ah gotcha
Jody Garnett
@jodygarnett
Jan 28 2016 19:47
Interesting, I would step through with a debugger to see what some of those methods like flatten feature collection do.
Other than that check what feature collection it gets back, not all data stores are good about streaming.
Any hints about their performance other than bad?
Anthony Fox
@anthonyccri
Jan 28 2016 19:49
well, hard to say, i am debugging it over the web . . . . not on a local geoserver
but i can replicate it here

That is good, we should probably take this up when I get back on a different channel since this is non LocationTech.
Please send what you find to geoserver-devel
