@did I've been re-visiting LocomotiveCMS optimization lately. Previously we had abandoned gzip compression but I'm back on the subject. I'm using a gulp stack on top of wagon for advanced asset compilation. I can gzip assets, but can't push them. I assume it's because wagon 's push command is attempting to compile the .gz assets. If we mod wagon to allow a simple pass through for *.gz files for upload, would that be an acceptable solution?
I've been thinking about solutions for deflating HTML from the rails side too.
CloudFront can gzip files on the fly now but in the scenario where you're not using CloudFront being able to upload directly to your asset server would be preferable.

@dahogenelst 1st thing to know is that if heroku tells you that, it is not necessarily true
I have had massive problems with heroku and with my engine becoming super slow with the new version and i spend shit loads of time and cant figure out what
if dragonfly is the issue, that is already a massive 1st step, because I have no idea what the issue is
Please let me know if you find a solution because i haven't so far, except increasing my instance size which is not really a solution

@DonKoko Thanks for the heads-up. Will keep you posted. Good to know that bumping the engine will cause even more performance issues. I've attached a newrelic addon hoping it would give me any insights, but unfortunately nothing noteworthy yet. @did You know anything about excessive memory usage or possibly leakage on Heroku caused by dragonfly/imagemagick?

This section in the docs https://locomotive-v3.readme.io/docs/filters#section-resize contains a link without an actual href mentioning setup instructions. Any idea to where this should point?

@DonKoko I did see someone just go elsewhere to do resizing and caching, thereby completely working around dragonfly and all its issues check: https://gist.github.com/benjaminwood/6511933

@did @dahogenelst that looks intriguing. I am kinda away from work this week but will definitely take a look next week. Daniel, let me know if you test it and like how it works.
