@maartenbreddels
so, far should be 100, near 0.1, or 0.01
rinftech-github
@rinftech-github
Bigger far is behaving weird?
Maarten Breddels
@maartenbreddels
well, you lose resolution
rinftech-github
@rinftech-github
Shadowmap resolution
Maarten Breddels
@maartenbreddels
and near=1 means that many objects are not visible in the camera
yeah
rinftech-github
@rinftech-github
But with near 0.1/0.01 it should be fine
Maarten Breddels
@maartenbreddels
indeed
i think this PR needs quality control (your notebook), and handling of the TODO's (most are simple)
rinftech-github
@rinftech-github
I think I can write the computation for near/far
I know the math for that
Maarten Breddels
@maartenbreddels
the UI part might need a different PR, to limit friction on getting this merged
no, I think far/near are fine now for point light, i just wanted to make you aware of this
rinftech-github
@rinftech-github
If the pythree light update code works, the ui should be simple
Do you have time this weekend to offer support regarding this? I am heavily invested and dedicated to finish this
rinftech-github
@rinftech-github
I could work on a branch derived from yours
And merge your changes when you push something new
Maarten Breddels
@maartenbreddels
yes, sounds good
I might be able to answer quick questions, but i won't be very available
rinftech-github
@rinftech-github
If possible, i would need a complete list of issues discovered by you
Can i create and push on a branch in ipyvolume?
On your repo dirrectly i mean
rinftech-github
@rinftech-github
or should I create a branch on HRI ?
Maarten Breddels
@maartenbreddels
both are fine, it you open it from you personal account, you can allow me to edit as well
although HRI just gave me permission
rinftech-github
@rinftech-github
@maartenbreddels I wrote you a pm regarding a pip install issue when isntalling from your branch
rinftech-github
@rinftech-github
@maartenbreddels regarding array serialization between python and javascript code let's consider this scenario: v=ipv.scatter(...) v.x[0]=10. Is there a way to trigger an update in js(on_change) in this manner ? The ways I know this works are: v.x=10 (the entire array becomes 10) and v.x=np.array([10.0, ....])
Maarten Breddels
@maartenbreddels
yeah, v.send_state('x') to update it
rinftech-github
@rinftech-github
Thank you!

Hi @maartenbreddels , I'm trying to make an interactive a standalone webpage to interact with n-d brain data: https://kingjr.github.io/chronicles/
is there a way to remove the little ipv buttons on the top left corner?
and is there a way to have one slider for one dimension (e.g. time) and the other for another (e.g. brain folding)
Maarten Breddels
@maartenbreddels

the css:

.ipyvolume-toolicon { display: none}

should do it, if you can find a way to inject that in the page

i think the slider/animation can only be per object, it is basically a 1d sequence of points/vertices per object
but you can have 2 different scatters, and 2 different meshes
Jean-Rémi KING
@kingjr
Thanks!

Hi. I want to visualize a 3d array of 1's and 0's with voxels. I found this chat in google, where in May you were discussing voxels implementation with TimoFriedri, was it implemented?
Timo F
@TimoFriedri
Hi, it was implemented. You have to manually install the feat_voxel branch from github.com/hri-eu/ipyvolume. There is a plot_voxel function with light support. In the notebooks folder is an example jupyter notebook.
Alexander Kichigin
@alkichigin
Great, I will play with it later, but will voxels be available in official master anytime soon?
Jean-Rémi KING
@kingjr
Hi @maartenbreddels , is it possible to link the view between multiple figures?
Jean-Rémi KING
@kingjr
found it: fig.camera.zoom and fig.camera.position
Timo F
@TimoFriedri
widgets.jslink((f0.camera, "position"),(f1.camera, "position"))
widgets.jslink((f0.camera, "rotation"),(f1.camera, "rotation"))

Hello, I have multiple figures in my jupyter notebook. So when I want to create a new plot/scatter it will always update the latest figure. Is there a way I can force ipv.plot to plot to a particular figure?
Can you guide me to the documentation or an example where the user interacts with multiple figures? My current understanding is that I need to update ipyolume.current.container but I am not sure how do I update it.
Thanks
Maarten Breddels
@maartenbreddels
yes, similar to matplotlib, ipv.figure(fig_2)
this is not well descrbed in the docstrings though

Hello, I was wondering if it was possible to do animations with 3d meshes. I want to update the vertices and the triangles of a mesh (I make some triangles desapear). For the vertices it worked by stacking the data as array of arrays for xyz as in the example but it does not work for the triangles (i used plot_trisurf). The triangles, even if stacked as the xyz data looked only as in the first array. Is this even possible ?
I want to export this plot as html
(at the end)
