I was able to make udp comp (if anybody interested it is in here: https://github.com/zhivko/machinekit/blob/master/mycomponents/udp.icomp)
@ArcEye: I was talking in #lilnuxcnc-evel with guys and they say that Rob is working on x,y,z,a,b,c trajectory planner.
@ArcEye: do we have 2.8 linuxcnc version in machinekit or what version? I would like to test new tp, but don't know what version we have current in mk - compared to lcnc...

@zhivko maybe you want to close the socket in EXTRA_CLEANUP
zhivko
@zhivko
Nov 04 2016 22:06
you are right!
thank you for your finding! forgot to implement that...
but it seems somebody closed it instead of me because my consequtive runs of MK havent showed socket is busy...
zhivko
@zhivko
Nov 04 2016 22:09
yes exactly
it works OK - no backlash
@rene-dev what is your project with MK ?
Rene Hopf
@rene-dev
Nov 04 2016 22:11
I just build servo drives, and retrofit machines with linuxcnc...
zhivko
@zhivko
Nov 04 2016 22:12
you produce servo drives or electronics for servo drive?
Rene Hopf
@rene-dev
Nov 04 2016 22:12
no production, open source project
zhivko
@zhivko
Nov 04 2016 22:13
NICE appreciate it... there was a talk on linuxcnc mailing list about open sourc eservo drives... was that yours?
Rene Hopf
@rene-dev
Nov 04 2016 22:13
only prototype production :D https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q6fK5MvwuvI
no, must have missed it, Im on both lists...
what list?
zhivko
@zhivko
Nov 04 2016 22:16
ah OK found the link for you:
Is this all your servos on this pick and place? x,y,z and other?
Rene Hopf
@rene-dev
Nov 04 2016 22:17
no, the picknplace is all original
my new picknplace uses stmbl
zhivko
@zhivko
Nov 04 2016 22:19
what is stmbl ?
Rene Hopf
@rene-dev
Nov 04 2016 22:19
the servo drive
this one is stmbl as well: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uMytcf41GPU

I work now with steppers (kind a closed loop) - would love to move to servo
but I find it quite expensive...
Rene Hopf
@rene-dev
Nov 04 2016 22:22
I have seen the Mechaduino, dont like it...
zhivko
@zhivko
Nov 04 2016 22:22
What is your filling of price for 400 -500W servo?
Rene Hopf
@rene-dev
Nov 04 2016 22:23
I dont sell servos, you can use almost any servo with stmbl, so just get used stuff
zhivko
@zhivko
Nov 04 2016 22:23
is than linuxcnc doing PID for such servo?
Rene Hopf
@rene-dev
Nov 04 2016 22:24
no!
Nico Stute
@crinq
Nov 04 2016 22:24
@zhivko no, the linuxcnc pid is shit (;
zhivko
@zhivko
Nov 04 2016 22:25
:)
Rene Hopf
@rene-dev
Nov 04 2016 22:25
we do position control and feedback over smartserial
zhivko
@zhivko
Nov 04 2016 22:25
So you just send PWM to it ?
or step and dir like for steppers ?
Rene Hopf
@rene-dev
Nov 04 2016 22:25
no, smartserial
step/dir or quadrature is also supportet, but is a bit obtuse
zhivko
@zhivko
Nov 04 2016 22:26
is this 485 kind of serial ?
Rene Hopf
@rene-dev
Nov 04 2016 22:26
pwm has too low resolution, same problem with alanog 0-10v servos...
zhivko
@zhivko
Nov 04 2016 22:26
but speed on serial ?
Rene Hopf
@rene-dev
Nov 04 2016 22:26
smartserial is rs422, but we also support a custom rs485 protocol
zhivko
@zhivko
Nov 04 2016 22:27
you have linuxcnc driver?
Rene Hopf
@rene-dev
Nov 04 2016 22:28
does not need a driver, smart serial is smart, works out of the box with linuxcnc and machinekit
zhivko
@zhivko
Nov 04 2016 22:28
Why havent you used industrial ethernet then?
Rene Hopf
@rene-dev
Nov 04 2016 22:29
we are working on an ethernet breakout board
zhivko
@zhivko
Nov 04 2016 22:31
interesting
I am working mainly with esp8266 for sensors I needed for project
linux computer needs serial port for communicating with stmbl ?
Rene Hopf
@rene-dev
Nov 04 2016 22:34
no, a mesa card, or a very fast serial port, at least 2.5 - 5 mbit
zhivko
@zhivko
Nov 04 2016 22:35
never worked with mesa card...
Rene Hopf
@rene-dev
Nov 04 2016 22:37
its like a pru for a pc :D
zhivko
@zhivko
Nov 04 2016 22:40
they are talking alot in linuxcnc about: 7i92
is this pci card for pc ? or how is it connected to PC ?
Oh its ethernet :) fpga ?
Rene Hopf
@rene-dev
Nov 04 2016 22:42
they have pci, pcie, ethernet and spi
zhivko
@zhivko
Nov 04 2016 22:45
interesting project you have
I would really low to know cca price of servo around 500W with your PCB...
Rene Hopf
@rene-dev
Nov 04 2016 22:46
where are you form?
zhivko
@zhivko
Nov 04 2016 22:46
Slovenia
Rene Hopf
@rene-dev
Nov 04 2016 22:48
just type ac servo into ebay
probably around €50-200
zhivko
@zhivko
Nov 04 2016 22:49
OK but what about pid tunning - they say it can be tricky - how it is done on stmbl ?
Rene Hopf
@rene-dev
Nov 04 2016 22:50
very easy, not much to tune :D
we scale the parameters to the motor, so default parameters usually work, if the motor is set up correctly.
zhivko
@zhivko
Nov 04 2016 22:58
for now I must live with steppers but maybe next iterration I could decide to go with servo...
