Have you tried this yet Dave? I wonder if this would work better than IRC?

I signed up for an account a while back (or maybe just logged in). I hadn't really tried it for anything yet, though.
Is there a phone app for Windows Phone for this?
Looks like rooms are sort of automatically created for github organizations and repos. Do you know if you can create unrelated rooms (ala #the-basement)
?

you can create a room for a repo or make a new channel. public rooms are free, but private rooms are $5/mo I think
checking for WP app, but I already know the answer...

I think private rooms can have up to 25 people before you have to pay. Not totally sure, but it looks like that might be the case.
So, I guess the main benefit of this over IRC would be that you could probably see the backlog without having to pay $5/month for IRCCloud or doing some other persistent session setup.
Other than that it seems pretty similar functionality.
Cool. Heading out now. :)

that would be neat. I wonder if there are any notifications when the repository changes... test

Holy moley. This is awesome! I've never heard of Gitter.
Oh, and "I'M BAAAAAAAAACK"
Crazy times at work lately :P
All I can say is, unless it gets cut before then, make sure to tune in to the Day 2 keynote at //build next week. I was in a video where I played music on two 5ft tesla coils (and hopefully got some soundbites into the interview portion of the video). I don't know if it will be shown during the keynote or before it though.
Even if it's cut, I'm hoping it will go on YouTube so I can show you :).
And Guggs keynote will hopefully have some live coding of one of the features I invented for Windows 10 :) (IBasicVideoEffect)
