The idea of being able to edit a statement shortly after it is created is a nice one. Maybe that's a better model for the debate than "edit objections", which is what I'm working on now. It's complicated to have to think about multiple edit objections, and edit objections that are applied and then reverted. Maybe a simpler way is let the author edit it for a few minutes after it is created (or until response are made to it?), similar to how gitter does edits. "Edit" doesn't really feel like an "Objection" anyway.
The primary use case is correcting a typo. Maybe the length of time you can edit one of your statements is proportional to your reputation?

need to figure out a good way to move the issues from thedebate-web repository to thedebate. it wouldn't be the end of the world to have to re-create the issues, but
ideally i could move all the comments and everything.
