I'm still thinking about what make most sense for us and our community... We'd like to expand via more bridges in the future for sure

Hi, we changed the logo of a gitter room and it does not seem to be updated on the matrix side. As gitter-badger is the only admin on the matrix side, there is no way to change the logo manually either. Do you know if it's possible to update a logo in this case?

Gitter rooms are available over a matrix server. Can you also lock in there with github and use the same account on the other side yet?

Hi - I updated my github display name recently, and on gitter.im it shows the updated name but in the matrix version it still shows "coolreader18 (Old Name)" - is there anyway to refresh that or something?

Hey, I'm trying to ban a matrix user in a gitter room via /ban and nothing happens, is this a known bug / is there a different way to ban users?

    @MadLittleMods: did I express this correctly https://github.com/pytest-dev/meta/issues/10#issuecomment-929942435 ?

I don't know if the libera.chat bridge allows for custom plumbs. If it does, you could have the Gitter and libera.chat bridges point to that matrix.org room.

    that sounds ideal

    Isn't matrix.org and libera.chat all EMS?

I think that from an IRC point of view, plumbing or not is just a technical detail that amounts to the same thing

    I think

In that case, https://gitter.im/pytest-dev/pytest is already bridged to !LWDnZSQeXmRPFTrkGA:matrix.org

So a tombstone there that redirects to Libera would work?
Hmm well I'm not sure exactly what I want, or what it is that you can do
I think we want to it to be like #twisted:libera.chat
But we have some docs pointing at #pytest:matrix.org
So we'd like those links to keep working

    1. Find out if you can change which room the libera.chat bridges to.
      • If can change, pick a single room as the canonical source
      • If not, you probably want to choose the !ipBocKVYhzwSPWzCKM:libera.chat room as the canonical source
    2. The #pytest:matrix.org alias can point to any room regardless of its homeserver

    What does this mean?

Find out if you can change which room the libera.chat bridges to.

I think we'd want !LWDnZSQeXmRPFTrkGA:matrix.org to be canonical, I'm not sure who we'd need to contact to "change which room the libera.chat bridges to"

Hello, I have a little question. I created a matrix room, but I would like gitter users to be able to join - currently they are not receiving the invites. What should I do? I'm getting lost in the terms like "plumbing" and "bridging", do I have to invite the Gitter-badger user? Does the room have to be public? Feel free to refer me to any documentation, I just haven't found it...

How can I get replies to show the relevant line it’s replying to on Element iOS app?

    Sorry I’m referring to Gitter
If a Gitter user replies to someone and I’m using Element it shows it’s a reply but not what it’s replying too

This is a Gitter user Reply
You can’t click the green and see what the reply is in reference too
If I reply it does stack on gitter side as a reply but it looks as such

Ohhh, I see! That the message is edited and there is a known bug around that, gitterHQ/webapp#2794

Although Element iOS would ideally fallback to picking up the relation from the original message like Element web does

I was looking at vector-im/roadmap#26 and i am not really happy about the note that talks about a public archive
Shouldn't the right to privacy and to be forgotten not also respected? At least obfuscate the user details for a public record so that you have to be part of the channel at the moment the message was written
The mailing list archives also obscure adresses
    at least the good ones

Both gitter and matrix both already have a set of visibility settings which make the history publically accessible.
The administrators of the room (in matrix) can decide if they want you to have to be a member of the room to see all history, history since you joined or all history is public.
